Proverbs 1 1. The proverbs <04912> of Solomon <08010> the son <01121> of David <01732>, king <04428> of Israel <03478>; 2 To know <03045> wisdom <02451> and instruction <04148>; to perceive the words <0561> of understanding <0998>; 3 To receive <03947> the instruction <04148> of wisdom <07919>, justice <06664>, and judgment <04941>, and equity <04339>; 4 To give <05414> subtilty <06195> to the simple <06612>, to the young <05288> man knowledge <01847> and discretion <04209>. 5 A wise <02450> [man] will hear <08085>, and will increase <03254> learning <03948>; and a man of understanding <0995> shall attain <07069> unto wise counsels <08458>: 6 To understand <0995> a proverb <04912>, and the interpretation <04426>; the words <01697> of the wise <02450>, and their dark <02420> sayings <02420>. 7. The fear <03374> of the LORD <03068> [is] the beginning <07225> of knowledge <01847>: [but] fools <0191> despise <0936> wisdom <02451> and instruction <04148>. 8 My son <01121>, hear <08085> the instruction <04148> of thy father <01>, and forsake <05203> not the law <08451> of thy mother <0517>: 9 For they [shall be] an ornament <03880> of grace <02580> unto thy head <07218>, and chains <06060> about thy neck <01621>. 10. My son <01121>, if <0518> sinners <02400> entice <06601> thee, consent <014> thou not. 11 If <0518> they say <0559>, Come <03212> with us, let us lay wait <0693> for blood <01818>, let us lurk <06845> privily for the innocent <05355> without <02600> cause <02600>: 12 Let us swallow <01104> them up alive <02416> as the grave <07585>; and whole <08549>, as those that go <03381> down <03381> into the pit <0953>: 13 We shall find <04672> all <03605> precious <03368> substance <01952>, we shall fill <04390> our houses <01004> with spoil <07998>: 14 Cast <05307> in thy lot <01486> among <08432> us; let us all <03605> have <01961> one <0259> purse <03599>: 15 My son <01121>, walk <03212> not thou in the way <01870> with them; refrain <04513> thy foot <07272> from their path <05410>: 16 For their feet <07272> run <07323> to evil <07451>, and make haste <04116> to shed <08210> blood <01818>. 17 Surely <03588> in vain <02600> the net <07568> is spread <02219> in the sight <05869> of any <03605> bird. 18 And they lay wait <0693> for their [own] blood <01818>; they lurk <06845> privily for their [own] lives <05315>. 19 So <03651> [are] the ways <0734> of every <03605> one that is greedy <01214> of gain <01214>; [which] taketh <03947> away the life <05315> of the owners <01167> thereof. 20. Wisdom <02454> crieth <07442> without <02351>; she uttereth <05414> her voice <06963> in the streets <07339>: 21 She crieth <07121> in the chief <07218> place of concourse <01993>, in the openings <06607> of the gates <08179>: in the city <05892> she uttereth <0559> her words <0561>, [saying], 22 How <05704> long <05704>, ye simple <06612> ones, will ye love <0157> simplicity <06612>? and the scorners <03887> delight <02531> in their scorning <03944>, and fools <03684> hate <08130> knowledge <01847>? 23 Turn <07725> you at my reproof <08433>: behold <02009>, I will pour <05042> out my spirit <07307> unto you, I will make known <03045> my words <01697> unto you. 24 Because <03282> I have called <07121>, and ye refused <03985>; I have stretched <05186> out my hand <03027>, and no <0369> man regarded <07181>; 25 But ye have set at <06544> nought <06544> all <03605> my counsel <06098>, and would <014> none <03808> of my reproof <08433>: 26 I also <01571> will laugh <07832> at your calamity <0343>; I will mock <03932> when your fear <06343> cometh <0935>; 27 When your fear <06343> cometh <0935> as desolation <07584>, and your destruction <0343> cometh <0857> as a whirlwind <05492>; when distress <06869> and anguish <06695> cometh <0935> upon you. 28 Then <0227> shall they call <07121> upon me, but I will not answer <06030>; they shall seek <07836> me early <07836>, but they shall not find <04672> me: 29 For that they hated <08130> knowledge <01847>, and did not choose <0977> the fear <03374> of the LORD <03068>: 30 They would <014> none <03808> of my counsel <06098>: they despised <05006> all <03605> my reproof <08433>. 31 Therefore shall they eat <0398> of the fruit <06529> of their own way <01870>, and be filled <07646> with their own devices <04156>. 32 For the turning <04878> away of the simple <06612> shall slay <02026> them, and the prosperity <07962> of fools <03684> shall destroy <06> them. 33 But whoso hearkeneth <08085> unto me shall dwell <07931> safely <0983>, and shall be quiet <07599> from fear <06343> of evil <07451>. Proverbs 2 1. My son <01121>, if <0518> thou wilt receive <03947> my words <0561>, and hide <06845> my commandments <04687> with thee; 2 So that thou incline <07181> thine ear <0241> unto wisdom <02451>, [and] apply <05186> thine heart <03820> to understanding <08394>; 3 Yea <03588>, if <0518> thou criest <07121> after knowledge <0998>, [and] liftest <05414> up thy voice <06963> for understanding <08394>; 4 If <0518> thou seekest <01245> her as silver <03701>, and searchest <02664> for her as [for] hid <04301> treasures <04301>; 5 Then <0227> shalt thou understand <0995> the fear <03374> of the LORD <03068>, and find <04672> the knowledge <01847> of God <0430>. 6 For the LORD <03068> giveth <05414> wisdom <02451>: out of his mouth <06310> [cometh] knowledge <01847> and understanding <08394>. 7 He layeth <06845> up sound <08454> wisdom <08454> for the righteous <03477>: [he is] a buckler <04043> to them that walk <01980> uprightly <08537>. 8 He keepeth <05341> the paths <0734> of judgment <04941>, and preserveth <08104> the way <01870> of his saints <02623>. 9 Then <0227> shalt thou understand <0995> righteousness <06664>, and judgment <04941>, and equity <04339>; [yea], every <03605> good <02896> path <04570>. 10. When <03588> wisdom <02451> entereth <0935> into thine heart <03820>, and knowledge <01847> is pleasant <05276> unto thy soul <05315>; 11 Discretion <04209> shall preserve <08104> thee, understanding <08394> shall keep <05341> thee: 12 To deliver <05337> thee from the way <01870> of the evil <07451> [man], from the man <0376> that speaketh <01696> froward <08419> things; 13 Who leave <05800> the paths <0734> of uprightness <03476>, to walk <03212> in the ways <01870> of darkness <02822>; 14 Who rejoice <08056> to do <06213> evil <07451>, [and] delight <01523> in the frowardness <08419> of the wicked <07451>; 15 Whose <0834> ways <0734> [are] crooked <06141>, and [they] froward <03868> in their paths <04570>: 16 To deliver <05337> thee from the strange <02114> woman <0802>, [even] from the stranger <05237> [which] flattereth <02505> with her words <0561>; 17 Which forsaketh <05800> the guide <0441> of her youth <05271>, and forgetteth <07913> the covenant <01285> of her God <0430>. 18 For her house <01004> inclineth <07743> unto death <04194>, and her paths <04570> unto the dead <07496>. 19 None <03808> that go <0935> unto her return <07725> again <07725>, neither take <05381> they hold <05381> of the paths <0734> of life <02416>. 20 That thou mayest walk <03212> in the way <01870> of good <02896> [men], and keep <08104> the paths <0734> of the righteous <06662>. 21 For the upright <03477> shall dwell <07931> in the land <0776>, and the perfect <08549> shall remain <03498> in it. 22 But the wicked <07563> shall be cut <03772> off from the earth <0776>, and the transgressors <0898> shall be rooted <05255> out of it. Proverbs 3 1. My son <01121>, forget <07911> not my law <08451>; but let thine heart <03820> keep <05341> my commandments <04687>: 2 For length <0753> of days <03117>, and long <0753> life <02416>, and peace <07965>, shall they add <03254> to thee. 3 Let not mercy <02617> and truth <0571> forsake <05800> thee: bind <07194> them about <05921> thy neck <01621>; write <03789> them upon the table <03871> of thine heart <03820>: 4 So shalt thou find <04672> favour <02580> and good <02896> understanding <07922> in the sight <05869> of God <0430> and man <0120>. 5 Trust <0982> in the LORD <03068> with all <03605> thine heart <03820>; and lean <08172> not unto thine own understanding <0998>. 6 In all <03605> thy ways <01870> acknowledge <03045> him, and he shall direct <03474> thy paths <0734>. 7. Be not wise <02450> in thine own eyes <05869>: fear <03372> the LORD <03068>, and depart <05493> from evil <07451>. 8 It shall be health <07500> to thy navel <08270>, and marrow <08250> to thy bones <06106>. 9 Honour <03513> the LORD <03068> with thy substance <01952>, and with the firstfruits <07225> of all <03605> thine increase <08393>: 10 So shall thy barns <0618> be filled <04390> with plenty <07647>, and thy presses <03342> shall burst <06555> out with new <08492> wine <08492>. 11 My son <01121>, despise <03988> not the chastening <04148> of the LORD <03068>; neither <0408> be weary <06973> of his correction <08433>: 12 For whom the LORD <03068> loveth <0157> he correcteth <03198>; even as a father <01> the son <01121> [in whom] he delighteth <07521>. 13. Happy <0835> [is] the man <0120> [that] findeth <04672> wisdom <02451>, and the man <0120> [that] getteth <06329> understanding <08394>. 14 For the merchandise <05504> of it [is] better <02896> than the merchandise <05505> of silver <03701>, and the gain <08393> thereof than fine gold <02742>. 15 She [is] more precious <03368> than rubies <06443>: and all <03605> the things thou canst desire <02656> are not to be compared <07737> unto her. 16 Length <0753> of days <03117> [is] in her right <03225> hand <03225>; [and] in her left <08040> hand <08040> riches <06239> and honour <03519>. 17 Her ways <01870> [are] ways <01870> of pleasantness <05278>, and all <03605> her paths <05410> [are] peace <07965>. 18 She [is] a tree <06086> of life <02416> to them that lay hold <02388> upon her: and happy <0835> [is every one] that retaineth <08551> her. 19 The LORD <03068> by wisdom <02451> hath founded <03245> the earth <0776>; by understanding <08394> hath he established <03559> the heavens <08064>. 20 By his knowledge <01847> the depths <08415> are broken <01234> up, and the clouds <07834> drop <07491> down <07491> the dew <02919>. 21. My son <01121>, let not them depart <03868> from thine eyes <05869>: keep <05341> sound <08454> wisdom <08454> and discretion <04209>: 22 So shall they be life <02416> unto thy soul <05315>, and grace <02580> to thy neck <01621>. 23 Then <0227> shalt thou walk <03212> in thy way <01870> safely <0983>, and thy foot <07272> shall not stumble <05062>. 24 When <0518> thou liest <07901> down <07901>, thou shalt not be afraid <06342>: yea, thou shalt lie <07901> down <07901>, and thy sleep <08142> shall be sweet <06148>. 25 Be not afraid <03372> of sudden <06597> fear <06343>, neither of the desolation <07722> of the wicked <07563>, when <03588> it cometh <0935>. 26 For the LORD <03068> shall be thy confidence <03689>, and shall keep <08104> thy foot <07272> from being taken <03921>. 27. Withhold <04513> not good <02896> from them to whom it is due <01167>, when it is in the power <0410> of thine hand <03027> to do <06213> [it]. 28 Say <0559> not unto thy neighbour <07453>, Go <03212>, and come <07725> again <07725>, and to morrow <04279> I will give <05414>; when thou hast <03426> it by thee. 29 Devise <02790> not evil <07451> against <05921> thy neighbour <07453>, seeing <07200> he dwelleth <03427> securely <0983> by thee. 30 Strive <07378> not with a man <0120> without <02600> cause <02600>, if <0518> he have done <01580> thee no <03808> harm <07451>. 31 Envy <07065> thou not the oppressor, and choose <0977> none <0408> of his ways <01870>. 32 For the froward <03868> [is] abomination <08441> to the LORD <03068>: but his secret <05475> [is] with the righteous <03477>. 33 The curse <03994> of the LORD <03068> [is] in the house <01004> of the wicked <07563>: but he blesseth <01288> the habitation <05116> of the just <06662>. 34 Surely <0518> he scorneth <03887> the scorners <03887>: but he giveth <05414> grace <02580> unto the lowly <06041>. 35 The wise <02450> shall inherit <05157> glory <03519>: but shame <07036> shall be the promotion <07311> of fools <03684>. Proverbs 4 1. Hear <08085>, ye children <01121>, the instruction <04148> of a father <01>, and attend <07181> to know <03045> understanding <0998>. 2 For I give <05414> you good <02896> doctrine <03948>, forsake <05800> ye not my law <08451>. 3 For I was my father's <01> son <01121>, tender <07390> and only <03173> [beloved] in the sight <06440> of my mother <0517>. 4 He taught <03384> me also, and said <0559> unto me, Let thine heart <03820> retain <08551> my words <01697>: keep <08104> my commandments <04687>, and live <02421>. 5 Get <07069> wisdom <02451>, get <07069> understanding <0998>: forget <07911> [it] not; neither <0408> decline <05186> from the words <0561> of my mouth <06310>. 6 Forsake <05800> her not, and she shall preserve <08104> thee: love <0157> her, and she shall keep <05341> thee. 7 Wisdom <02451> [is] the principal <07225> thing; [therefore] get <07069> wisdom <02451>: and with all <03605> thy getting <07069> get <07069> understanding <0998>. 8 Exalt <05549> her, and she shall promote <07311> thee: she shall bring <03513> thee to honour <03513>, when <03588> thou dost embrace <02263> her. 9 She shall give <05414> to thine head <07218> an ornament <03880> of grace <02580>: a crown <05850> of glory <08597> shall she deliver <04042> to thee. 10 Hear <08085>, O my son <01121>, and receive <03947> my sayings <0561>; and the years <08141> of thy life <02416> shall be many <07235>. 11 I have taught <03384> thee in the way <01870> of wisdom <02451>; I have led <01869> thee in right <03476> paths <04570>. 12 When thou goest <03212>, thy steps <06806> shall not be straitened <03334>; and when <0518> thou runnest <07323>, thou shalt not stumble <03782>. 13 Take <02388> fast hold <02388> of instruction <04148>; let [her] not go <07503>: keep <05341> her; for she [is] thy life <02416>. 14. Enter <0935> not into the path <0734> of the wicked <07563>, and go <0833> not in the way <01870> of evil <07451> [men]. 15 Avoid <06544> it, pass <05674> not by it, turn <07847> from it, and pass <05674> away. 16 For they sleep <03462> not, except they have done mischief <07489>; and their sleep <08142> is taken <01497> away <01497>, unless they cause [some] to fall <03782>. 17 For they eat <03898> the bread <03899> of wickedness <07562>, and drink <08354> the wine <03196> of violence <02555>. 18 But the path <0734> of the just <06662> [is] as the shining <05051> light <0216>, that shineth <0215> more <01980> and more unto the perfect <03559> day <03117>. 19 The way <01870> of the wicked <07563> [is] as darkness <0653>: they know <03045> not at what <04100> they stumble <03782>. 20. My son <01121>, attend <07181> to my words <01697>; incline <05186> thine ear <0241> unto my sayings <0561>. 21 Let them not depart <03868> from thine eyes <05869>; keep <08104> them in the midst <08432> of thine heart <03824>. 22 For they [are] life <02416> unto those that find <04672> them, and health <04832> to all <03605> their flesh <01320>. 23 Keep <05341> thy heart <03820> with all <03605> diligence <04929>; for out of it [are] the issues <08444> of life <02416>. 24 Put <05493> away <05493> from thee a froward <06143> mouth <06310>, and perverse <03891> lips <08193> put <07368> far <07368> from thee. 25 Let thine eyes <05869> look <05027> right <05227> on, and let thine eyelids <06079> look straight <03474> before <05048> thee. 26 Ponder <06424> the path <04570> of thy feet <07272>, and let all <03605> thy ways <01870> be established <03559>. 27 Turn <05186> not to the right <03225> hand <03227> nor to the left <08040>: remove <05493> thy foot <07272> from evil <07451>. Proverbs 5 1. My son <01121>, attend <07181> unto my wisdom <02451>, [and] bow <05186> thine ear <0241> to my understanding <08394>: 2 That thou mayest regard <08104> discretion <04209>, and [that] thy lips <08193> may keep <05341> knowledge <01847>. 3 For the lips <08193> of a strange <02114> woman drop <05197> [as] an honeycomb <05317>, and her mouth <02441> [is] smoother <02513> than oil <08081>: 4 But her end <0319> is bitter <04751> as wormwood <03939>, sharp <02290> as a twoedged <06310> sword <02719>. 5 Her feet <07272> go <03381> down <03381> to death <04194>; her steps <06806> take <08551> hold <08551> on hell <07585>. 6 Lest <06435> thou shouldest ponder <06424> the path <0734> of life <02416>, her ways <04570> are moveable <05128>, [that] thou canst not know <03045> [them]. 7 Hear <08085> me now <06258> therefore, O ye children <01121>, and depart <05493> not from the words <0561> of my mouth <06310>. 8 Remove <07368> thy way <01870> far <07368> from her, and come <07126> not nigh <07126> the door <06607> of her house <01004>: 9 Lest <06435> thou give <05414> thine honour <01935> unto others <0312>, and thy years <08141> unto the cruel <0394>: 10 Lest <06435> strangers <02114> be filled <07646> with thy wealth <03581>; and thy labours <06089> [be] in the house <01004> of a stranger <05237>; 11 And thou mourn <05098> at the last <0319>, when thy flesh <01320> and thy body <07607> are consumed <03615>, 12 And say <0559>, How <0349> have I hated <08130> instruction <04148>, and my heart <03820> despised <05006> reproof <08433>; 13 And have not obeyed <08085> the voice <06963> of my teachers <03384>, nor <03808> inclined <05186> mine ear <0241> to them that instructed <03925> me! 14 I was almost <04592> in all <03605> evil <07451> in the midst <08432> of the congregation <06951> and assembly <05712>. 15. Drink <08354> waters <04325> out of thine own cistern <0953>, and running <05140> waters out of thine own well <0875>. 16 Let thy fountains <04599> be dispersed <06327> abroad <02351>, [and] rivers <06388> of waters <04325> in the streets <07339>. 17 Let them be only thine own <0249>, and not strangers <02114>' with thee. 18 Let thy fountain <04726> be blessed <01288>: and rejoice <08055> with the wife <0802> of thy youth <05271>. 19 [Let her be as] the loving <0158> hind <0365> and pleasant <02580> roe <03280>; let her breasts <01717> satisfy <07301> thee at all <03605> times <06256>; and be thou ravished <07686> always <08548> with her love <0160>. 20 And why wilt thou, my son <01121>, be ravished <07686> with a strange <02114> woman, and embrace <02263> the bosom <02436> of a stranger <05237>? 21 For the ways <01870> of man <0376> [are] before <05227> the eyes <05869> of the LORD <03068>, and he pondereth <06424> all <03605> his goings <04570>. 22 His own <0249> iniquities <05771> shall take <03920> the wicked <07563> himself, and he shall be holden <08551> with the cords <02256> of his sins <02403>. 23 He shall die <04191> without <0369> instruction <04148>; and in the greatness <07230> of his folly <0200> he shall go <07686> astray <07686>. Proverbs 6 1. My son <01121>, if <0518> thou be surety <06148> for thy friend <07453>, [if] thou hast stricken <08628> thy hand <03709> with a stranger <02114>, 2 Thou art snared <03369> with the words <0561> of thy mouth <06310>, thou art taken <03920> with the words <0561> of thy mouth <06310>. 3 Do <06213> this <02063> now <0645>, my son <01121>, and deliver <05337> thyself, when <03588> thou art come <0935> into the hand <03709> of thy friend <07453>; go <03212>, humble <07511> thyself, and make sure <07292> thy friend <07453>. 4 Give <05414> not sleep <08142> to thine eyes <05869>, nor slumber <08572> to thine eyelids <06079>. 5 Deliver <05337> thyself as a roe <06643> from the hand <03027> [of the hunter <06718>], and as a bird <06833> from the hand <03027> of the fowler <03353>. 6. Go <03212> to the ant <05244>, thou sluggard <06102>; consider <07200> her ways <01870>, and be wise <02449>: 7 Which <0834> having no <0369> guide <07101>, overseer <07860>, or ruler <04910>, 8 Provideth <03559> her meat <03899> in the summer <07019>, [and] gathereth <0103> her food <03978> in the harvest <07105>. 9 How <05704> long <05704> wilt thou sleep <07901>, O sluggard <06102>? when <04970> wilt thou arise <06965> out of thy sleep <08142>? 10 [Yet] a little <04592> sleep <08142>, a little <04592> slumber <08572>, a little <04592> folding <02264> of the hands <03027> to sleep <07901>: 11 So shall thy poverty <07389> come <0935> as one that travelleth <01980>, and thy want <04270> as an armed <04043> man <0376>. 12. A naughty <01100> person <0120>, a wicked <0205> man <0376>, walketh <01980> with a froward <06143> mouth <06310>. 13 He winketh <07169> with his eyes <05869>, he speaketh <04448> with his feet <07272>, he teacheth <03384> with his fingers <0676>; 14 Frowardness <08419> [is] in his heart <03820>, he deviseth <02790> mischief <07451> continually; he soweth <07971> discord <04066>. 15 Therefore shall his calamity <0343> come <0935> suddenly <06597>; suddenly <06621> shall he be broken <07665> without <0369> remedy <04832>. 16 These <02007> six <08337> [things] doth the LORD <03068> hate <08130>: yea, seven <07651> [are] an abomination <08441> unto him: 17 A proud <07311> look <05869>, a lying <08267> tongue <03956>, and hands <03027> that shed <08210> innocent <05355> blood <01818>, 18 An heart <03820> that deviseth <02790> wicked <0205> imaginations <04284>, feet <07272> that be swift <04116> in running <07323> to mischief <07451>, 19 A false <08267> witness <05707> [that] speaketh <06315> lies <03576>, and he that soweth <07971> discord <04090> among <0996> brethren <0251>. 20. My son <01121>, keep <05341> thy father's <01> commandment <04687>, and forsake <05203> not the law <08451> of thy mother <0517>: 21 Bind <07194> them continually <08548> upon thine heart <03820>, [and] tie <06029> them about <05921> thy neck <01621>. 22 When thou goest <01980>, it shall lead <05148> thee; when thou sleepest <07901>, it shall keep <08104> thee; and [when] thou awakest <06974>, it shall talk <07878> with thee. 23 For the commandment <04687> [is] a lamp <05216>; and the law <08451> [is] light <0216>; and reproofs <08433> of instruction <04148> [are] the way <01870> of life <02416>: 24 To keep <08104> thee from the evil <07451> woman <0802>, from the flattery <02513> of the tongue <03956> of a strange <05237> woman. 25 Lust <02530> not after her beauty <03308> in thine heart <03824>; neither <0408> let her take <03947> thee with her eyelids <06079>. 26 For by means <01157> of a whorish <02181> woman <0802> [a man is brought] to a piece <03603> of bread <03899>: and the adulteress will hunt <06679> for the precious <03368> life <05315>. 27 Can a man <0376> take <02846> fire <0784> in his bosom <02436>, and his clothes <0899> not be burned <08313>? 28 Can one <0376> go <01980> upon hot coals <01513>, and his feet <07272> not be burned <03554>? 29 So <03651> he that goeth <0935> in to his neighbour's <07453> wife <0802>; whosoever <03605> toucheth <05060> her shall not be innocent <05352>. 30 [Men] do not despise <0936> a thief <01590>, if he steal <01589> to satisfy <04390> his soul <05315> when <03588> he is hungry <07456>; 31 But [if] he be found <04672>, he shall restore <07999> sevenfold <07659>; he shall give <05414> all <03605> the substance <01952> of his house <01004>. 32 [But] whoso committeth <05003> adultery <05003> with a woman <0802> lacketh <02638> understanding <03820>: he [that] doeth <06213> it destroyeth <07843> his own soul <05315>. 33 A wound <05061> and dishonour <07036> shall he get <04672>; and his reproach <02781> shall not be wiped <04229> away. 34 For jealousy <07068> [is] the rage <02534> of a man <01397>: therefore he will not spare <02550> in the day <03117> of vengeance <05359>. 35 He will not regard any <03605> ransom <03724>; neither <03808> will he rest content <014>, though <03588> thou givest many <07235> gifts <07810>. Proverbs 7 1. My son <01121>, keep <08104> my words <0561>, and lay <06845> up my commandments <04687> with thee. 2 Keep <08104> my commandments <04687>, and live <02421>; and my law <08451> as the apple <0380> of thine eye <05869>. 3 Bind <07194> them upon thy fingers <0676>, write <03789> them upon the table <03871> of thine heart <03820>. 4 Say <0559> unto wisdom <02451>, Thou [art] my sister <0269>; and call <07121> understanding <0998> [thy] kinswoman <04129>: 5 That they may keep <08104> thee from the strange <02114> woman <0802>, from the stranger <05237> [which] flattereth <02505> with her words <0561>. 6. For at the window <02474> of my house <01004> I looked <08259> through my casement <0822>, 7 And beheld <07200> among the simple <06612> ones, I discerned <0995> among the youths <01121>, a young <05288> man void <02638> of understanding <03820>, 8 Passing <05674> through the street <07784> near <0681> her corner <06438>; and he went <06805> the way <01870> to her house <01004>, 9 In the twilight <05399>, in the evening <06153>, in the black <0380> and dark <0653> night <03915>: 10 And, behold <02009>, there met <07125> him a woman <0802> [with] the attire <07897> of an harlot <02181>, and subtil <05341> of heart <03820>. 11 (She [is] loud <01993> and stubborn <05637>; her feet <07272> abide <07937> not in her house <01004>: 12 Now <06471> [is she] without <02351>, now <06471> in the streets <07339>, and lieth in wait <0693> at <0681> every <03605> corner <06438>.) 13 So she caught <02388> him, and kissed <05401> him, [and] with an impudent <05810> face <06440> said <0559> unto him, 14 [I have] peace <08002> offerings with me; this day <03117> have I payed <07999> my vows <05088>. 15 Therefore came <03318> I forth <03318> to meet <07125> thee, diligently <07836> to seek <07836> thy face <06440>, and I have found <04672> thee. 16 I have decked <07234> my bed <06210> with coverings <04765> of tapestry, with carved <02405> [works], with fine linen <0948> of Egypt <04714>. 17 I have perfumed <05130> my bed <04904> with myrrh <04753>, aloes <0174>, and cinnamon <07076>. 18 Come <03212>, let us take our fill <07301> of love <01730> until <05704> the morning <01242>: let us solace <05965> ourselves with loves <0159>. 19 For the goodman <0376> [is] not at home <01004>, he is gone <01980> a long <07350> journey <01870>: 20 He hath taken <03947> a bag <06872> of money <03701> with him, [and] will come <0935> home <01004> at the day <03117> appointed <03677>. 21 With her much <07230> fair <03948> speech <03948> she caused him to yield <05186>, with the flattering <02506> of her lips <08193> she forced <05080> him. 22 He goeth <01980> after <0310> her straightway <06597>, as an ox <07794> goeth <0925> to the slaughter <02875>, or as a fool <0191> to the correction <04148> of the stocks <05914>; 23 Till <05704> a dart <02671> strike <06398> through his liver <03516>; as a bird <06833> hasteth <04116> to the snare <06341>, and knoweth <03045> not that it [is] for his life <05315>. 24. Hearken <08085> unto me now <06258> therefore, O ye children <01121>, and attend <07181> to the words <0561> of my mouth <06310>. 25 Let not thine heart <03820> decline <07847> to her ways <01870>, go <08582> not astray <08582> in her paths <05410>. 26 For she hath cast <05307> down many <07227> wounded <02491>: yea, many <03605> strong <06099> [men <0582>] have been slain <02026> by her. 27 Her house <01004> [is] the way <01870> to hell <07585>, going <03381> down <03381> to the chambers <02315> of death <04194>. Proverbs 8 1. Doth not wisdom <02451> cry <07121>? and understanding <08394> put <05414> forth her voice <06963>? 2 She standeth <05324> in the top <07218> of high <04791> places, by the way <01870> in the places <01004> of the paths <05410>. 3 She crieth <07442> at <03027> the gates <08179>, at <03027> the entry <06310> of the city <07176>, at the coming <03996> in at the doors <06607>. 4 Unto you, O men <0376>, I call <07121>; and my voice <06963> [is] to the sons <01121> of man <0120>. 5 O ye simple <06612>, understand <0995> wisdom <06195>: and, ye fools <03684>, be ye of an understanding <0995> heart <03820>. 6 Hear <08085>; for I will speak <01696> of excellent <05057> things; and the opening <04669> of my lips <08193> [shall be] right <04339> things. 7 For my mouth <02441> shall speak <01897> truth <0571>; and wickedness <07562> [is] an abomination <08441> to my lips <08193>. 8 All <03605> the words <0561> of my mouth <06310> [are] in righteousness <06664>; [there is] nothing <0369> froward <06617> or perverse <06141> in them. 9 They [are] all <03605> plain <05228> to him that understandeth <0995>, and right <03477> to them that find <04672> knowledge <01847>. 10 Receive <03947> my instruction <04148>, and not silver <03701>; and knowledge <01847> rather <0408> than choice <0977> gold <02742>. 11 For wisdom <02451> [is] better <02896> than rubies <06443>; and all <03605> the things that may be desired <02656> are not to be compared <07737> to it. 12. I wisdom <02451> dwell <07931> with prudence <06195>, and find <04672> out knowledge <01847> of witty inventions <04209>. 13 The fear <03374> of the LORD <03068> [is] to hate <08130> evil <07451>: pride <01344>, and arrogancy <01347>, and the evil <07451> way <01870>, and the froward <08419> mouth <06310>, do I hate <08130>. 14 Counsel <06098> [is] mine, and sound <08454> wisdom <08454>: I [am] understanding <0998>; I have strength <01369>. 15 By me kings <04428> reign <04427>, and princes <07336> decree <02710> justice <06664>. 16 By me princes <08269> rule <08323>, and nobles <05081>, [even] all <03605> the judges <08199> of the earth <0776>. 17 I love <0157> them that love <0157> me; and those that seek <07836> me early <07836> shall find <04672> me. 18 Riches <06239> and honour <03519> [are] with me; [yea], durable <06276> riches <01952> and righteousness <06666>. 19 My fruit <06529> [is] better <02896> than gold <02742>, yea, than fine gold <06337>; and my revenue <08393> than choice <0977> silver <03701>. 20 I lead <01980> in the way <0734> of righteousness <06666>, in the midst <08432> of the paths <05410> of judgment <04941>: 21 That I may cause those that love <0157> me to inherit <05157> substance <03426>; and I will fill <04390> their treasures <0214>. 22. The LORD <03068> possessed <07069> me in the beginning <07225> of his way <01870>, before <06924> his works <04659> of old <0227>. 23 I was set <05258> up from everlasting <05769>, from the beginning <07218>, or ever <06924> the earth <0776> was. 24 When [there were] no <0369> depths <08415>, I was brought <02342> forth <02342>; when [there were] no <0369> fountains <04599> abounding with water <04325>. 25 Before <02962> the mountains <02022> were settled <02883>, before <06440> the hills <01389> was I brought <02342> forth <02342>: 26 While as yet <05704> he had not made <06213> the earth <0776>, nor the fields <02351>, nor the highest <07218> part of the dust <06083> of the world <08398>. 27 When he prepared <03559> the heavens <08064>, I [was] there <08033>: when he set <02710> a compass <02329> upon the face <06440> of the depth <08415>: 28 When he established <0553> the clouds <07834> above <04605>: when he strengthened <05810> the fountains <05869> of the deep <08415>: 29 When he gave <07760> to the sea <03220> his decree <02706>, that the waters <04325> should not pass <05674> his commandment <06310>: when he appointed <02710> the foundations <04146> of the earth <0776>: 30 Then I was by him, [as] one brought <0539> up [with him]: and I was daily <03117> [his] delight <08191>, rejoicing <07832> always before <06440> him; 31 Rejoicing <07832> in the habitable <08398> part of his earth <0776>; and my delights <08191> [were] with the sons <01121> of men <0120>. 32. Now <06258> therefore hearken <08085> unto me, O ye children <01121>: for blessed <0835> [are they that] keep <08104> my ways <01870>. 33 Hear <08085> instruction <04148>, and be wise <02449>, and refuse <06544> it not. 34 Blessed <0835> [is] the man <0120> that heareth <08085> me, watching <08245> daily <03117> at <05921> my gates <01817>, waiting <08104> at the posts <04201> of my doors <06607>. 35 For whoso findeth <04672> me findeth <04672> life <02416>, and shall obtain <06329> favour <07522> of the LORD <03068>. 36 But he that sinneth <02398> against me wrongeth <02554> his own soul <05315>: all <03605> they that hate <08130> me love <0157> death <04194>. Proverbs 9 1. Wisdom <02454> hath builded <01129> her house <01004>, she hath hewn <02672> out her seven <07651> pillars <05982>: 2 She hath killed <02873> her beasts <02874>; she hath mingled <04537> her wine <03196>; she hath also <0637> furnished <06186> her table <07979>. 3 She hath sent <07971> forth her maidens <05291>: she crieth <07121> upon the highest <04791> places of the city <07176>, 4 Whoso <04310> [is] simple <06612>, let him turn <05493> in hither: [as for] him that wanteth <02638> understanding <03820>, she saith <0559> to him, 5 Come <03212>, eat <03898> of my bread <03899>, and drink <08354> of the wine <03196> [which] I have mingled <04537>. 6 Forsake <05800> the foolish <06612>, and live <02421>; and go <0833> in the way <01870> of understanding <0998>. 7 He that reproveth <03256> a scorner <03887> getteth <03947> to himself shame <07036>: and he that rebuketh <03198> a wicked <07563> [man getteth] himself a blot <03971>. 8 Reprove <03198> not a scorner <03887>, lest <06435> he hate <08130> thee: rebuke <03198> a wise <02450> man, and he will love <0157> thee. 9 Give <05414> [instruction] to a wise <02450> [man], and he will be yet <05750> wiser <02449>: teach <03045> a just <06662> [man], and he will increase <03254> in learning <03948>. 10 The fear <03374> of the LORD <03068> [is] the beginning <08462> of wisdom <02451>: and the knowledge <01847> of the holy <06918> [is] understanding <0998>. 11 For by me thy days <03117> shall be multiplied <07235>, and the years <08141> of thy life <02416> shall be increased <03254>. 12 If <0518> thou be wise <02449>, thou shalt be wise <02449> for thyself: but [if] thou scornest <03887>, thou alone <0905> shalt bear <05375> [it]. 13. A foolish <03687> woman <0802> [is] clamorous <01993>: [she is] simple <06612>, and knoweth <03045> nothing. 14 For she sitteth <03427> at the door <06607> of her house <01004>, on <05921> a seat <03678> in the high <04791> places of the city <07176>, 15 To call <07121> passengers who go right <03474> on their ways <0734>: 16 Whoso <04310> [is] simple <06612>, let him turn <05493> in hither: and [as for] him that wanteth <02638> understanding <03820>, she saith <0559> to him, 17 Stolen <01589> waters <04325> are sweet <04985>, and bread <03899> [eaten] in secret <05643> is pleasant <05276>. 18 But he knoweth <03045> not that the dead <07496> [are] there <08033>; [and that] her guests <07121> [are] in the depths <06010> of hell <07585>. Proverbs 10 1. The proverbs <04912> of Solomon <08010>. A wise <02450> son <01121> maketh a glad <08056> father <01>: but a foolish <03684> son <01121> [is] the heaviness <08424> of his mother <0517>. 2. Treasures <0214> of wickedness <07562> profit <03276> nothing <03808>: but righteousness <06666> delivereth <05337> from death <04194>. 3 The LORD <03068> will not suffer the soul <05315> of the righteous <06662> to famish <07456>: but he casteth <01920> away <01920> the substance <01942> of the wicked <07563>. 4. He becometh poor <07326> that dealeth <06213> [with] a slack <07423> hand <03709>: but the hand <03027> of the diligent <02742> maketh rich <06238>. 5. He that gathereth <0103> in summer <07019> [is] a wise <07919> son <01121>: [but] he that sleepeth <07290> in harvest <07105> [is] a son <01121> that causeth shame <0954>. 6. Blessings <01293> [are] upon the head <07218> of the just <06662>: but violence <02555> covereth <03680> the mouth <06310> of the wicked <07563>. 7. The memory <02143> of the just <06662> [is] blessed <01293>: but the name <08034> of the wicked <07563> shall rot <07537>. 8. The wise <02450> in heart <03820> will receive <03947> commandments <04687>: but a prating <08193> fool <0191> shall fall <03832>. 9. He that walketh <03212> uprightly <08537> walketh <01980> surely <0983>: but he that perverteth <06140> his ways <01870> shall be known <03045>. 10. He that winketh <07169> with the eye <05869> causeth <05414> sorrow <06094>: but a prating <08193> fool <0191> shall fall <03832>. 11. The mouth <06310> of a righteous <06662> [man is] a well <04726> of life <02416>: but violence <02555> covereth <03680> the mouth <06310> of the wicked <07563>. 12. Hatred <08135> stirreth <05782> up strifes <04090>: but love <0160> covereth <03680> all <03605> sins <06588>. 13. In the lips <08193> of him that hath understanding <0995> wisdom <02451> is found <04672>: but a rod <07626> [is] for the back <01458> of him that is void <02638> of understanding <03820>. 14. Wise <02450> [men] lay <06845> up knowledge <01847>: but the mouth <06310> of the foolish <0191> [is] near <07138> destruction <04288>. 15. The rich <06223> man's wealth <01952> [is] his strong <05797> city <07151>: the destruction <04288> of the poor <01800> [is] their poverty <07389>. 16. The labour <06468> of the righteous <06662> [tendeth] to life <02416>: the fruit <08393> of the wicked <07563> to sin <02403>. 17. He [is in] the way <0734> of life <02416> that keepeth <08104> instruction <04148>: but he that refuseth <05800> reproof <08433> erreth <08582>. 18. He that hideth <03680> hatred <08135> [with] lying <08267> lips <08193>, and he that uttereth <03318> a slander <01681>, [is] a fool <03684>. 19. In the multitude <07230> of words <01697> there wanteth <02308> not sin <06588>: but he that refraineth <02820> his lips <08193> [is] wise <07919>. 20. The tongue <03956> of the just <06662> [is as] choice <0977> silver <03701>: the heart <03820> of the wicked <07563> [is] little <04592> worth. 21 The lips <08193> of the righteous <06662> feed <07462> many <07227>: but fools <0191> die <04191> for want <02638> of wisdom <03820>. 22. The blessing <01293> of the LORD <03068>, it maketh rich <06238>, and he addeth <03254> no <03808> sorrow <06089> with it. 23. [It is] as sport <07814> to a fool <03684> to do <06213> mischief <02154>: but a man <0376> of understanding <08394> hath wisdom <02451>. 24. The fear <04034> of the wicked <07563>, it shall come <0935> upon him: but the desire <08378> of the righteous <06662> shall be granted <05414>. 25 As the whirlwind passeth <05674>, so [is] the wicked <07563> no <0369> [more]: but the righteous <06662> [is] an everlasting <05769> foundation <03247>. 26. As vinegar <02558> to the teeth <08127>, and as smoke <06227> to the eyes <05869>, so [is] the sluggard <06102> to them that send <07971> him. 27. The fear <03374> of the LORD <03068> prolongeth <03254> days <03117>: but the years <08141> of the wicked <07563> shall be shortened <07114>. 28 The hope <08431> of the righteous <06662> [shall be] gladness <08057>: but the expectation <08615> of the wicked <07563> shall perish <06>. 29. The way <01870> of the LORD <03068> [is] strength <04581> to the upright <08537>: but destruction <04288> [shall be] to the workers <06466> of iniquity <0205>. 30 The righteous <06662> shall never be removed <04131>: but the wicked <07563> shall not inhabit <07931> the earth <0776>. 31. The mouth <06310> of the just <06662> bringeth <05107> forth <05107> wisdom <02451>: but the froward <08419> tongue <03956> shall be cut <03772> out. 32 The lips <08193> of the righteous <06662> know <03045> what is acceptable <07522>: but the mouth <06310> of the wicked <07563> [speaketh] frowardness <08419>. Proverbs 11 1. A false <04820> balance <03976> [is] abomination <08441> to the LORD <03068>: but a just <08003> weight <068> [is] his delight <07522>. 2. [When] pride <02087> cometh <0935>, then cometh <0935> shame <07036>: but with the lowly <06800> [is] wisdom <02451>. 3. The integrity <08538> of the upright <03477> shall guide <05148> them: but the perverseness <05558> of transgressors <0898> shall destroy <07703> them. 4. Riches <01952> profit <03276> not in the day <03117> of wrath <05678>: but righteousness <06666> delivereth <05337> from death <04194>. 5. The righteousness <06666> of the perfect <08549> shall direct <03474> his way <01870>: but the wicked <07563> shall fall <05307> by his own wickedness <07564>. 6 The righteousness <06666> of the upright <03477> shall deliver <05337> them: but transgressors <0898> shall be taken <03920> in [their own] naughtiness <01942>. 7. When a wicked <07563> man <0120> dieth <04194>, [his] expectation <08615> shall perish <06>: and the hope <08431> of unjust <0205> [men] perisheth <06>. 8. The righteous <06662> is delivered <02502> out of trouble <06869>, and the wicked <07563> cometh <0935> in his stead <08478>. 9. An hypocrite <02611> with [his] mouth <06310> destroyeth <07843> his neighbour <07453>: but through knowledge <01847> shall the just <06662> be delivered <02502>. 10. When it goeth well <02898> with the righteous <06662>, the city <07151> rejoiceth <05970>: and when the wicked <07563> perish <06>, [there is] shouting <07440>. 11 By the blessing <01293> of the upright <03477> the city <07176> is exalted <07311>: but it is overthrown <02040> by the mouth <06310> of the wicked <07563>. 12. He that is void <02638> of wisdom <03820> despiseth <0936> his neighbour <07453>: but a man <0376> of understanding <08394> holdeth <02790> his peace <02790>. 13 A talebearer revealeth <01540> secrets <04575>: but he that is of a faithful <0539> spirit <07307> concealeth <03680> the matter <01697>. 14. Where no <0369> counsel <08458> [is], the people <05971> fall <05307>: but in the multitude <07230> of counsellors <03289> [there is] safety <08668>. 15. He that is surety <06148> for a stranger <02114> shall smart [for it]: and he that hateth <08130> suretiship <08628> is sure <0982>. 16. A gracious <02580> woman <0802> retaineth <08551> honour <03519>: and strong <06184> [men] retain <08551> riches <06239>. 17. The merciful <02617> man <0376> doeth <01580> good <01580> to his own soul <05315>: but [he that is] cruel <0394> troubleth <05916> his own flesh <07607>. 18. The wicked <07563> worketh <06213> a deceitful <08267> work <06468>: but to him that soweth <02232> righteousness <06666> [shall be] a sure <0571> reward <07938>. 19. As righteousness <06666> [tendeth] to life <02416>: so he that pursueth <07291> evil <07451> [pursueth it] to his own death <04194>. 20. They that are of a froward <06141> heart <03820> [are] abomination <08441> to the LORD <03068>: but [such as are] upright <08549> in [their] way <01870> [are] his delight <07522>. 21. [Though] hand <03027> [join] in hand <03027>, the wicked <07451> shall not be unpunished <05352>: but the seed <02233> of the righteous <06662> shall be delivered <04422>. 22. [As] a jewel <05141> of gold <02091> in a swine's <02386> snout <0639>, [so is] a fair <03303> woman <0802> which is without <05493> discretion <02940>. 23. The desire <08378> of the righteous <06662> [is] only <0389> good <02896>: [but] the expectation <08615> of the wicked <07563> [is] wrath <05678>. 24. There is that scattereth <06340>, and yet <05750> increaseth <03254>; and [there is] that withholdeth <02820> more than is meet <03476>, but [it tendeth] to poverty <04270>. 25. The liberal <01293> soul <05315> shall be made fat <01878>: and he that watereth <07301> shall be watered <03384> also <01571> himself <01931>. 26. He that withholdeth <04513> corn <01250>, the people <03816> shall curse <05344> him: but blessing <01293> [shall be] upon the head <07218> of him that selleth <07666> [it]. 27. He that diligently <07836> seeketh <07836> good <02896> procureth <01245> favour <07522>: but he that seeketh <01875> mischief <07451>, it shall come <0935> unto him. 28. He that trusteth <0982> in his riches <06239> shall fall <05307>: but the righteous <06662> shall flourish <06524> as a branch <05929>. 29. He that troubleth <05916> his own house <01004> shall inherit <05157> the wind <07307>: and the fool <0191> [shall be] servant <05650> to the wise <02450> of heart <03820>. 30. The fruit <06529> of the righteous <06662> [is] a tree <06086> of life <02416>; and he that winneth <03947> souls <05315> [is] wise <02450>. 31. Behold <02005>, the righteous <06662> shall be recompensed <07999> in the earth <0776>: much <0637> more the wicked <07563> and the sinner <02398>. Proverbs 12 1. Whoso loveth <0157> instruction <04148> loveth <0157> knowledge <01847>: but he that hateth <08130> reproof <08433> [is] brutish <01197>. 2. A good <02896> [man] obtaineth <06329> favour <07522> of the LORD <03068>: but a man <0376> of wicked <04209> devices <04209> will he condemn <07561>. 3. A man <0120> shall not be established <03559> by wickedness <07562>: but the root <08328> of the righteous <06662> shall not be moved <04131>. 4. A virtuous <02428> woman <0802> [is] a crown <05850> to her husband <01167>: but she that maketh ashamed <0954> [is] as rottenness <07538> in his bones <06106>. 5. The thoughts <04284> of the righteous <06662> [are] right <04941>: [but] the counsels <08458> of the wicked <07563> [are] deceit <04820>. 6. The words <01697> of the wicked <07563> [are] to lie in wait <0693> for blood <01818>: but the mouth <06310> of the upright <03477> shall deliver <05337> them. 7. The wicked <07563> are overthrown <02015>, and [are] not: but the house <01004> of the righteous <06662> shall stand <05975>. 8. A man <0376> shall be commended <01984> according <06310> to his wisdom <07922>: but he that is of a perverse <05753> heart <03820> shall be despised <0937>. 9. [He that is] despised <07034>, and hath a servant <05650>, [is] better <02896> than he that honoureth <03513> himself, and lacketh <02638> bread <03899>. 10. A righteous <06662> [man] regardeth <03045> the life <05315> of his beast <0929>: but the tender mercies <07356> of the wicked <07563> [are] cruel <0394>. 11. He that tilleth <05647> his land <0127> shall be satisfied <07646> with bread <03899>: but he that followeth <07291> vain <07386> [persons is] void <02638> of understanding <03820>. 12. The wicked <07563> desireth <02530> the net <04686> of evil <07451> [men]: but the root <08328> of the righteous <06662> yieldeth <05414> [fruit]. 13. The wicked <07451> is snared <04170> by the transgression <06588> of [his] lips <08193>: but the just <06662> shall come <03318> out of trouble <06869>. 14. A man <0376> shall be satisfied <07646> with good <02896> by the fruit <06529> of [his] mouth <06310>: and the recompence of a man's <0120> hands <03027> shall be rendered <07725> unto him. 15. The way <01870> of a fool <0191> [is] right <03477> in his own eyes <05869>: but he that hearkeneth <08085> unto counsel <06098> [is] wise <02450>. 16. A fool's <0191> wrath <03708> is presently <03117> known <03045>: but a prudent <06175> [man] covereth <03680> shame <07036>. 17. A man <0376> shall eat <0398> good <02896> by the fruit <06529> of [his] mouth <06310>: but the soul <05315> of the transgressors <0898> [shall eat] violence <02555>. 3. He that keepeth <05341> his mouth <06310> keepeth <08104> his life <05315>: [but] he that openeth <06589> wide his lips <08193> shall have destruction <04288>. 4. The soul <05315> of the sluggard <06102> desireth <0183>, and [hath] nothing <0369>: but the soul <05315> of the diligent <02742> shall be made fat <01878>. 5. Hell <07585> and destruction <011> [are] before <06440> the LORD <03068>: how <0637> much <0637> more then the hearts <03826> of the children <01121> of men <0120>? 12. A scorner <03887> loveth <0157> not one that reproveth <03198> him: neither <03808> will he go <03212> unto the wise <02450>. 13. Better <02896> [is] little <04592> with the fear <03374> of the LORD <03068> than great <07227> treasure <0214> and trouble <04103> therewith. 17 Better <02896> [is] a dinner <0737> of herbs <03419> where <08033> love <0160> is, than a stalled <075> ox <07794> and hatred <08135> therewith. 18. A man <0376> hath joy <08057> by the answer <04617> of his mouth <06310>: and a word <01697> [spoken] in due season <06256>, how <04100> good <02896> [is it]! 24. The way <0734> of life <02416> [is] above <04605> to the wise <07919>, that he may depart <05493> from hell <07585> beneath <04295>. 25. The LORD <03068> will destroy <05255> the house <01004> of the proud <01343>: but he will establish <05324> the border <01366> of the widow <0490>. 26. The thoughts <04284> of the wicked <07451> [are] an abomination <08441> to the LORD <03068>: but [the words] of the pure <02889> [are] pleasant <05278> words. 27. He that is greedy <01214> of gain <01214> troubleth <05916> his own house <01004>; but he that hateth <08130> gifts <04979> shall live <02421>. 28. The heart <03820> of the righteous <06662> studieth <01897> to answer <06030>: but the mouth <06310> of the wicked <07563> poureth <05042> out evil <07451> things. 29. The LORD <03068> [is] far <07350> from the wicked <07563>: but he heareth <08085> the prayer <08605> of the righteous <06662>. 30. The light <03974> of the eyes <05869> rejoiceth <08055> the heart <03820>: [and] a good <02896> report <08052> maketh the bones <06106> fat <01878>. 31. The ear <0241> that heareth <08085> the reproof <08433> of life <02416> abideth <03885> among <07130> the wise <02450>. 32. He that refuseth <06544> instruction <04148> despiseth <03988> his own soul <05315>: but he that heareth <08085> reproof <08433> getteth <07069> understanding <03820>. 33. The fear <03374> of the LORD <03068> [is] the instruction <04148> of wisdom <02451>; and before <06440> honour <03519> [is] humility <06038>. Proverbs 16 1. The preparations <04633> of the heart <03820> in man <0120>, and the answer <04617> of the tongue <03956>, [is] from the LORD <03068>. 2. All <03605> the ways <01870> of a man <0376> [are] clean <02134> in his own eyes <05869>; but the LORD <03068> weigheth <08505> the spirits <07307>. 3. Commit <01556> thy works <04639> unto the LORD <03068>, and thy thoughts <04284> shall be established <03559>. 4. The LORD <03068> hath made <06466> all <03605> [things] for himself <04617>: yea <01571>, even <01571> the wicked <07563> for the day <03117> of evil <07451>. 5. Every <03605> one [that is] proud <01362> in heart <03820> [is] an abomination <08441> to the LORD <03068>: [though] hand <03027> [join] in hand <03027>, he shall not be unpunished <05352>. 6. By mercy <02617> and truth <0571> iniquity <05771> is purged <03722>: and by the fear <03374> of the LORD <03068> [men] depart <05493> from evil <07451>. 7. When a man's <0376> ways <01870> please <07521> the LORD <03068>, he maketh even <01571> his enemies <0341> to be at <05921> peace <07999> with him. 8. Better <02896> [is] a little <04592> with righteousness <06666> than great <07230> revenues <08393> without <03808> right <04941>. 9. A man's <0120> heart <03820> deviseth <02803> his way <01870>: but the LORD <03068> directeth <03559> his steps <06806>. 10. A divine <07081> sentence <07081> [is] in the lips <08193> of the king <04428>: his mouth <06310> transgresseth <04603> not in judgment <04941>. 11. A just <04941> weight <06425> and balance <03976> [are] the LORD'S <03068>: all <03605> the weights <068> of the bag <03599> [are] his work <04639>. 12. [It is] an abomination <08441> to kings <04428> to commit <06213> wickedness <07562>: for the throne <03678> is established <03559> by righteousness <06666>. 13. Righteous <06664> lips <08193> [are] the delight <07522> of kings <04428>; and they love <0157> him that speaketh <01696> right <03477>. 14. The wrath <02534> of a king <04428> [is as] messengers <04397> of death <04194>: but a wise <02450> man <0376> will pacify <03722> it. 15 In the light <0216> of the king's <04428> countenance <06440> [is] life <02416>; and his favour <07522> [is] as a cloud <05645> of the latter <04456> rain <04456>. 16. How <04100> much better <02896> [is it] to get <07069> wisdom <02451> than gold <02742>! and to get <07069> understanding <0998> rather to be chosen <0977> than silver <03701>! 17. The highway <04546> of the upright <03477> [is] to depart <05493> from evil <07451>: he that keepeth <05341> his way <01870> preserveth <08104> his soul <05315>. 18. Pride <01347> [goeth] before <06440> destruction <07667>, and an haughty <01363> spirit <07307> before <06440> a fall <03783>. 19. Better <02896> [it is to be] of an humble <08213> spirit <07307> with the lowly <06041>, than to divide <02505> the spoil <07998> with the proud <01343>. 20. He that handleth <05921> a matter <01697> wisely <07919> shall find <04672> good <02896>: and whoso trusteth <0982> in the LORD <03068>, happy <0835> [is] he. 21. The wise <02450> in heart <03820> shall be called <07121> prudent <0995>: and the sweetness <04986> of the lips <08193> increaseth <03254> learning <03948>. 22. Understanding <07922> [is] a wellspring <04726> of life <02416> unto him that hath <01167> it: but the instruction <04148> of fools <0191> [is] folly <0200>. 23. The heart <03820> of the wise <02450> teacheth <07919> his mouth <06310>, and addeth <03254> learning <03948> to his lips <08193>. 24. Pleasant <05278> words <0561> [are as] an honeycomb, sweet <04966> to the soul <05315>, and health <04832> to the bones <06106>. 25. There is a way <01870> that seemeth <06440> right <03477> unto a man <0376>, but the end <0319> thereof [are] the ways <01870> of death <04194>. 26. He that laboureth <06001> laboureth <05998> for himself; for his mouth <06310> craveth <0404> it of him. 27. An ungodly <01100> man <0376> diggeth <03738> up evil <07451>: and in his lips <08193> [there is] as a burning <06867> fire <0784>. 28 A froward <08419> man <0376> soweth <07971> strife <04066>: and a whisperer <05372> separateth <06504> chief <0441> friends <0441>. 29. A violent <02555> man <0376> enticeth <06601> his neighbour <07453>, and leadeth <03212> him into the way <01870> [that is] not good <02896>. 30 He shutteth <06095> his eyes <05869> to devise <02803> froward <08419> things: moving <07169> his lips <08193> he bringeth <03615> evil <07451> to pass <03615>. 31. The hoary <07872> head [is] a crown <05850> of glory <08597>, [if] it be found <04672> in the way <01870> of righteousness <06666>. 32. [He that is] slow <0750> to anger <0639> [is] better <02896> than the mighty <01368>; and he that ruleth <04910> his spirit <07307> than he that taketh <03920> a city <05892>. 33. The lot <01486> is cast <02904> into the lap <02436>; but the whole <03605> disposing <04941> thereof [is] of the LORD <03068>. Proverbs 17 1. Better <02896> [is] a dry <02720> morsel <06595>, and quietness <07962> therewith, than an house <01004> full <04392> of sacrifices <02077> [with] strife <07379>. 2. A wise <07919> servant <05650> shall have rule <04910> over a son <01121> that causeth shame <0954>, and shall have part <02505> of the inheritance <05159> among <08432> the brethren <0251>. 3. The fining <04715> pot <04715> [is] for silver <03701>, and the furnace <03564> for gold <02091>: but the LORD <03068> trieth <0974> the hearts <03826>. 4. A wicked <07489> doer giveth heed <07181> to false <0205> lips <08193>; [and] a liar <08267> giveth ear <0238> to a naughty <01942> tongue <03956>. 5. Whoso mocketh <03932> the poor <07326> reproacheth <02778> his Maker <06213>: [and] he that is glad <08056> at calamities <0343> shall not be unpunished <05352>. 6. Children's <01121> children <01121> [are] the crown <05850> of old <02205> men; and the glory <08597> of children <01121> [are] their fathers <01>. 7. Excellent <03499> speech <08193> becometh <05000> not a fool <05036>: much <0637> less do lying <08267> lips <08193> a prince <05081>. 8. A gift <07810> [is as] a precious <02580> stone <068> in the eyes <05869> of him that hath <01167> it: whithersoever it turneth <06437>, it prospereth <07919>. 9. He that covereth <03680> a transgression <06588> seeketh <01245> love <0160>; but he that repeateth <08138> a matter <01697> separateth <06504> [very] friends <0441>. 10. A reproof <01606> entereth <05181> more into a wise <0995> man than an hundred <03967> stripes <05221> into a fool <03684>. 11. An evil <07451> [man] seeketh <01245> only <0389> rebellion <04805>: therefore a cruel <0394> messenger <04397> shall be sent <07971> against him. 12. Let a bear <01677> robbed <07909> of her whelps meet <06298> a man <0376>, rather <0408> than a fool <03684> in his folly <0200>. 13. Whoso rewardeth <07725> evil <07451> for good <02896>, evil <07451> shall not depart <04185> from his house <01004>. 14. The beginning <07225> of strife <04066> [is as] when one letteth <06362> out water <04325>: therefore leave <05203> off contention <07379>, before <06440> it be meddled <01566> with. 15. He that justifieth <06663> the wicked <07563>, and he that condemneth <07561> the just <06662>, even <01571> they both <08147> [are] abomination <08441> to the LORD <03068>. 16. Wherefore [is there] a price <04242> in the hand <03027> of a fool <03684> to get <07069> wisdom <02451>, seeing [he hath] no <0369> heart <03820> [to it]? 17. A friend <07453> loveth <0157> at all <03605> times <06256>, and a brother <0251> is born <03205> for adversity <06869>. 18. A man <0120> void <02638> of understanding <03820> striketh <08628> hands <03709>, [and] becometh <06148> surety <06161> in the presence <06440> of his friend <07453>. 19. He loveth <0157> transgression <06588> that loveth <0157> strife <04683>: [and] he that exalteth <01361> his gate <06607> seeketh <01245> destruction <07667>. 20. He that hath a froward <06141> heart <03820> findeth <04672> no <03808> good <02896>: and he that hath a perverse <02015> tongue <03956> falleth <05307> into mischief <07451>. 21. He that begetteth <03205> a fool <03684> [doeth it] to his sorrow <08424>: and the father <01> of a fool <05036> hath no <03808> joy <08056>. 22. A merry <08056> heart <03820> doeth good <03190> [like] a medicine <01456>: but a broken <05218> spirit <07307> drieth <03001> the bones <01634>. 23. A wicked <07563> [man] taketh <03947> a gift <07810> out of the bosom <02436> to pervert <05186> the ways <0734> of judgment <04941>. 24. Wisdom <02451> [is] before him that hath understanding <0995>; but the eyes <05869> of a fool <03684> [are] in the ends <07097> of the earth <0776>. 25. A foolish <03684> son <01121> [is] a grief <03708> to his father <01>, and bitterness <04470> to her that bare <03205> him. 26. Also <01571> to punish <06064> the just <06662> [is] not good <02896>, [nor] to strike <05221> princes <05081> for equity <03476>. 27. He that hath knowledge <01847> spareth <02820> his words <0561>: [and] a man <0376> of understanding <08394> is of an excellent <07119> spirit <07307>. 28 Even <01571> a fool <0191>, when he holdeth <02790> his peace <02790>, is counted <02803> wise <02450>: [and] he that shutteth <0331> his lips <08193> [is esteemed] a man of understanding <0995>. Proverbs 18 1. Through desire <08378> a man, having separated <06504> himself, seeketh <01245> [and] intermeddleth <01566> with all <03605> wisdom <08454>. 2. A fool <03684> hath no <03808> delight <02654> in understanding <08394>, but that his heart <03820> may discover <01540> itself. 3. When the wicked <07563> cometh <0935>, [then] cometh <0935> also <01571> contempt <0937>, and with ignominy <07036> reproach <02781>. 4. The words <01697> of a man's <0376> mouth <06310> [are as] deep <06013> waters <04325>, [and] the wellspring <04726> of wisdom <02451> [as] a flowing <05042> brook <05158>. 5. [It is] not good <02896> to accept <05375> the person <06440> of the wicked <07563>, to overthrow <05186> the righteous <06662> in judgment <04941>. 6. A fool's <03684> lips <08193> enter <0935> into contention <07379>, and his mouth <06310> calleth <07121> for strokes <04112>. 7 A fool's <03684> mouth <06310> [is] his destruction <04288>, and his lips <08193> [are] the snare <04170> of his soul <05315>. 8. The words <01697> of a talebearer <05372> [are] as wounds <03859>, and they go <03381> down <03381> into the innermost <02315> parts of the belly <0990>. 9. He also <01571> that is slothful <07503> in his work <04399> is brother <0251> to him that is a great <01167> waster <07843>. 10. The name <08034> of the LORD <03068> [is] a strong <05797> tower <04026>: the righteous <06662> runneth <07323> into it, and is safe <07682>. 11. The rich <06223> man's wealth <01952> [is] his strong <05797> city <07151>, and as an high <07682> wall <02346> in his own conceit <04906>. 12. Before <06440> destruction <07667> the heart <03820> of man <0376> is haughty <01361>, and before <06440> honour <03519> [is] humility <06038>. 13. He that answereth <07725> a matter <01697> before <02962> he heareth <08085> [it], it [is] folly <0200> and shame <03639> unto him. 14. The spirit <07307> of a man <0376> will sustain <03557> his infirmity <04245>; but a wounded <05218> spirit <07307> who <04310> can bear <05375>? 15. The heart <03820> of the prudent <0995> getteth <07069> knowledge <01847>; and the ear <0241> of the wise <02450> seeketh <01245> knowledge <01847>. 16. A man's <0120> gift <04976> maketh room <07337> for him, and bringeth <05148> him before <06440> great <01419> men. 17. [He that is] first <07223> in his own cause <07379> [seemeth] just <06662>; but his neighbour <07453> cometh <0935> and searcheth <02713> him. 18. The lot <01486> causeth contentions <04079> to cease <07673>, and parteth <06504> between <0996> the mighty <06099>. 19. A brother <0251> offended <06586> [is harder to be won] than a strong <05797> city <07151>: and [their] contentions <04079> [are] like the bars <01280> of a castle <0759>. 20. A man's <0376> belly <0990> shall be satisfied <07646> with the fruit <06529> of his mouth <06310>; [and] with the increase <08393> of his lips <08193> shall he be filled <07646>. 21. Death <04194> and life <02416> [are] in the power <03027> of the tongue <03956>: and they that love <0157> it shall eat <0398> the fruit <06529> thereof. 22. [Whoso] findeth <04672> a wife <0802> findeth <04672> a good <02896> [thing], and obtaineth <06329> favour <07522> of the LORD <03068>. 23. The poor <07326> useth <01696> intreaties <08469>; but the rich <06223> answereth <06030> roughly <05794>. 24. A man <0376> [that hath] friends <07453> must shew himself friendly <07489>: and there is a friend <0157> [that] sticketh <01695> closer than a brother <0251>. Proverbs 19 1. Better <02896> [is] the poor <07326> that walketh <01980> in his integrity <08537>, than [he that is] perverse <06141> in his lips <08193>, and is a fool <03684>. 2. Also <01571>, [that] the soul <05315> [be] without <03808> knowledge <01847>, [it is] not good <02896>; and he that hasteth <0213> with [his] feet <07272> sinneth <02398>. 3. The foolishness <0200> of man <0120> perverteth <05557> his way <01870>: and his heart <03820> fretteth <02196> against <05921> the LORD <03068>. 4. Wealth <01952> maketh many <07227> friends <07453>; but the poor <01800> is separated <06504> from his neighbour <07453>. 5. A false <08267> witness <05707> shall not be unpunished <05352>, and [he that] speaketh <06315> lies <03576> shall not escape <04422>. 6. Many <07227> will intreat <02470> the favour <06440> of the prince <05081>: and every <03605> man [is] a friend <07453> to him that giveth gifts <04976>. 7 All <03605> the brethren <0251> of the poor <07326> do hate <08130> him: how <0637> much <0637> more do his friends <04828> go <07368> far <07368> from him? he pursueth <07291> [them with] words <0561>, [yet] they [are] wanting <03808> [to him]. 8. He that getteth <07069> wisdom <03820> loveth <0157> his own soul <05315>: he that keepeth <08104> understanding <08394> shall find <04672> good <02896>. 9. A false <08267> witness <05707> shall not be unpunished <05352>, and [he that] speaketh <06315> lies <03576> shall perish <06>. 10. Delight <08588> is not seemly <05000> for a fool <03684>; much <0637> less for a servant <05650> to have rule <04910> over princes <08269>. 11. The discretion <07922> of a man <0120> deferreth <0748> his anger <0639>; and [it is] his glory <08597> to pass <05674> over <05921> a transgression <06588>. 12. The king's <04428> wrath <02197> [is] as the roaring <05099> of a lion <03715>; but his favour <07522> [is] as dew <02919> upon the grass <06212>. 13. A foolish <03684> son <01121> [is] the calamity <01942> of his father <01>: and the contentions <04079> of a wife <0802> [are] a continual <02956> dropping <01812>. 14. House <01004> and riches <01952> [are] the inheritance <05159> of fathers <01>: and a prudent <07919> wife <0802> [is] from the LORD <03068>. 15. Slothfulness <06103> casteth <05307> into a deep <08639> sleep <03462>; and an idle <07423> soul <05315> shall suffer hunger <07456>. 16. He that keepeth <08104> the commandment <04687> keepeth <08104> his own soul <05315>; [but] he that despiseth <0959> his ways <01870> shall die <04191>. 17. He that hath pity <02603> upon the poor <01800> lendeth <03867> unto the LORD <03068>; and that which he hath given <01576> will he pay <07999> him again <07999>. 18. Chasten <03256> thy son <01121> while <03588> there is hope <08615>, and let not thy soul <05315> spare <05375> for his crying <04191>. 19. A man of great wrath <02534> shall suffer <05375> punishment <06066>: for if <0518> thou deliver <05337> [him], yet <05750> thou must do it again <03254>. 20. Hear <08085> counsel <06098>, and receive <06901> instruction <04148>, that thou mayest be wise <02449> in thy latter <0319> end. 21. [There are] many <07227> devices <04284> in a man's <0376> heart <03820>; nevertheless the counsel <06098> of the LORD <03068>, that shall stand <06965>. 22. The desire <08378> of a man <0120> [is] his kindness <02617>: and a poor <07326> man [is] better <02896> than a liar <03576>. 23. The fear <03374> of the LORD <03068> [tendeth] to life <02416>: and [he that hath it] shall abide <03885> satisfied <07649>; he shall not be visited <06485> with evil <07451>. 24. A slothful <06102> [man] hideth <02934> his hand <03027> in [his] bosom <06747>, and will not so much <01571> as bring <07725> it to his mouth <06310> again <07725>. 25. Smite <05221> a scorner <03887>, and the simple <06612> will beware <06191>: and reprove <03198> one that hath understanding <0995>, [and] he will understand <0995> knowledge <01847>. 26. He that wasteth <07703> [his] father <01>, [and] chaseth <01272> away [his] mother <0517>, [is] a son <01121> that causeth shame <0954>, and bringeth <02659> reproach <02659>. 27. Cease <02308>, my son <01121>, to hear <08085> the instruction <04148> [that causeth] to err <07686> from the words <0561> of knowledge <01847>. 28. An ungodly <01100> witness <05707> scorneth <03887> judgment <04941>: and the mouth <06310> of the wicked <07563> devoureth <01104> iniquity <0205>. 29. Judgments <08201> are prepared <03559> for scorners <03887>, and stripes <04112> for the back <01458> of fools <03684>. Proverbs 20 1. Wine <03196> [is] a mocker <03887>, strong drink <07941> [is] raging <01993>: and whosoever <03605> is deceived <07686> thereby is not wise <02449>. 2. The fear <0367> of a king <04428> [is] as the roaring <05099> of a lion <03715>: [whoso] provoketh <05674> him to anger <05674> sinneth <02398> [against] his own soul <05315>. 3. [It is] an honour <03519> for a man <0376> to cease <07647> from strife <07379>: but every <03605> fool <0191> will be meddling <01566>. 4. The sluggard <06102> will not plow <02790> by reason of the cold <02779>; [therefore] shall he beg <07592> in harvest <07105>, and [have] nothing <0369>. 5. Counsel <06098> in the heart <03820> of man <0376> [is like] deep <06013> water <04325>; but a man <0376> of understanding <08394> will draw <01802> it out. 6. Most <07230> men <0120> will proclaim <07121> every <0376> one <0376> his own goodness <02617>: but a faithful <0529> man <0376> who <04310> can find <04672>? 7. The just <06662> [man] walketh <01980> in his integrity <08537>: his children <01121> [are] blessed <0835> after <0310> him. 8. A king <04428> that sitteth <03427> in the throne <03678> of judgment <01779> scattereth <02219> away all <03605> evil <07451> with his eyes <05869>. 9. Who <04310> can say <0559>, I have made my heart <03820> clean <02135>, I am pure <02891> from my sin <02403>? 10. Divers weights <068>, [and] divers measures <0374>, both <08147> of them [are] alike <01571> abomination <08441> to the LORD <03068>. 11. Even <01571> a child <05288> is known <05234> by his doings <04611>, whether <0518> his work <06467> [be] pure <02134>, and whether <0518> [it be] right <03477>. 12. The hearing <08085> ear <0241>, and the seeing <07200> eye <05869>, the LORD <03068> hath made <06213> even <01571> both <08147> of them. 13. Love <0157> not sleep <08142>, lest <06435> thou come to poverty <03423>; open <06491> thine eyes <05869>, [and] thou shalt be satisfied <07646> with bread <03899>. 14. [It is] naught <07451>, [it is] naught <07451>, saith <0559> the buyer <07069>: but when he is gone <0235> his way, then <0227> he boasteth <01984>. 15. There is gold <02091>, and a multitude <07230> of rubies <06443>: but the lips <08193> of knowledge <01847> [are] a precious <03366> jewel <03627>. 16. Take <03947> his garment <0899> that is surety <06148> [for] a stranger <02114>: and take <02254> a pledge <02254> of him for a strange <05237> woman. 17. Bread <03899> of deceit <08267> [is] sweet <06149> to a man <0376>; but afterwards <0310> his mouth <06310> shall be filled <04390> with gravel <02687>. 18. [Every] purpose <04284> is established <03559> by counsel <06098>: and with good advice <08458> make <06213> war <04421>. 19. He that goeth <01980> about <01980> [as] a talebearer <07400> revealeth <01540> secrets <04575>: therefore meddle <06148> not with him that flattereth <06601> with his lips <08193>. 20. Whoso curseth <07043> his father <01> or his mother <0517>, his lamp <05216> shall be put <01846> out in obscure <0380> darkness <02822>. 21. An inheritance <05159> [may be] gotten hastily <0926> at the beginning <07223>; but the end <0319> thereof shall not be blessed <01288>. 22. Say <0559> not thou, I will recompense <07999> evil <07451>; [but] wait <06960> on the LORD <03068>, and he shall save <03467> thee. 23. Divers weights <068> [are] an abomination <08441> unto the LORD <03068>; and a false <04820> balance <03976> [is] not good <02896>. 24. Man's <01397> goings <04703> [are] of the LORD <03068>; how <04100> can a man <0120> then understand <0995> his own way <01870>? 25. [It is] a snare <04170> to the man <0120> [who] devoureth <03216> [that which is] holy <06944>, and after <0310> vows <05088> to make enquiry <01239>. 26. A wise <02450> king <04428> scattereth <02219> the wicked <07563>, and bringeth <07725> the wheel <0212> over <05921> them. 27. The spirit <05397> of man <0120> [is] the candle <05216> of the LORD <03068>, searching <02664> all <03605> the inward <02315> parts of the belly <0990>. 28. Mercy <02617> and truth <0571> preserve <05341> the king <04428>: and his throne <03678> is upholden <05582> by mercy <02617>. 29. The glory <08597> of young <0970> men [is] their strength <03581>: and the beauty <01926> of old <02205> men [is] the gray <07872> head. 30. The blueness <02250> of a wound <06482> cleanseth <08562> away evil <07451>: so [do] stripes <04347> the inward <02315> parts of the belly <0990>. Proverbs 21 1. The king's <04428> heart <03820> [is] in the hand <03027> of the LORD <03068>, [as] the rivers <06388> of water <04325>: he turneth <05186> it whithersoever he will <02654>. 2. Every <03605> way <01870> of a man <0376> [is] right <03477> in his own eyes <05869>: but the LORD <03068> pondereth <08505> the hearts <03826>. 3. To do <06213> justice <06666> and judgment <04941> [is] more acceptable <0977> to the LORD <03068> than sacrifice <02077>. 4. An high <07312> look <05869>, and a proud <07342> heart <03820>, [and] the plowing <05215> of the wicked <07563>, [is] sin <02403>. 5. The thoughts <04284> of the diligent <02742> [tend] only <0389> to plenteousness <04195>; but of every <03605> one [that is] hasty <0213> only <0389> to want <04270>. 6. The getting <06467> of treasures <0214> by a lying <08267> tongue <03956> [is] a vanity <01892> tossed <05086> to and fro of them that seek <01245> death <04194>. 7. The robbery <07701> of the wicked <07563> shall destroy <01641> them; because <03588> they refuse <03985> to do <06213> judgment <04941>. 8. The way <01870> of man <0376> [is] froward <02019> and strange <02114>: but [as for] the pure <02134>, his work <06467> [is] right <03477>. 9. [It is] better <02896> to dwell <03427> in a corner <06438> of the housetop <01406>, than with a brawling <04090> woman <0802> in a wide <02267> house <01004>. 10. The soul <05315> of the wicked <07563> desireth <0183> evil <07451>: his neighbour <07453> findeth no <03808> favour <02603> in his eyes <05869>. 11. When the scorner <03887> is punished <06064>, the simple <06612> is made wise <02449>: and when the wise <02450> is instructed <07919>, he receiveth <03947> knowledge <01847>. 12. The righteous <06662> [man] wisely <07919> considereth <07919> the house <01004> of the wicked <07563>: [but God] overthroweth <05557> the wicked <07563> for [their] wickedness <07451>. 13. Whoso stoppeth <0331> his ears <0241> at the cry <02201> of the poor <01800>, he also <01571> shall cry <07121> himself <01931>, but shall not be heard <06030>. 14. A gift <04976> in secret <05643> pacifieth <03711> anger <0639>: and a reward <07810> in the bosom <02436> strong <05794> wrath <02534>. 15. [It is] joy <08057> to the just <06662> to do <06213> judgment <04941>: but destruction <04288> [shall be] to the workers <06466> of iniquity <0205>. 16. The man <0120> that wandereth <08582> out of the way <01870> of understanding <07919> shall remain <05117> in the congregation <06951> of the dead <07496>. 17. He that loveth <0157> pleasure <08057> [shall be] a poor <04270> man <0376>: he that loveth <0157> wine <03196> and oil <08081> shall not be rich <06238>. 18. The wicked <07563> [shall be] a ransom <03724> for the righteous <06662>, and the transgressor <0898> for the upright <03477>. 19. [It is] better <02896> to dwell <03427> in the wilderness <04057>, than with a contentious <04066> and an angry <03708> woman <0802>. 20. [There is] treasure <0214> to be desired <02530> and oil <08081> in the dwelling <05116> of the wise <02450>; but a foolish <03684> man <0120> spendeth <01104> it up. 21. He that followeth <07291> after righteousness <06666> and mercy <02617> findeth <04672> life <02416>, righteousness <06666>, and honour <03519>. 22. A wise <02450> [man] scaleth <05927> the city <05892> of the mighty <01368>, and casteth <03381> down <03381> the strength <05797> of the confidence <04009> thereof. 23. Whoso keepeth <08104> his mouth <06310> and his tongue <03956> keepeth <08104> his soul <05315> from troubles <06869>. 24. Proud <02086> [and] haughty <03093> scorner <03887> [is] his name <08034>, who dealeth <06213> in proud <02087> wrath <05678>. 25. The desire <08378> of the slothful <06102> killeth <04191> him; for his hands <03027> refuse <03985> to labour <06213>. 26 He coveteth <0183> greedily <08378> all <03605> the day <03117> long: but the righteous <06662> giveth <05414> and spareth <02820> not. 27. The sacrifice <02077> of the wicked <07563> [is] abomination <08441>: how <0637> much <0637> more, [when <03588>] he bringeth <0935> it with a wicked <02154> mind? 28. A false <03577> witness <05707> shall perish <06>: but the man <0376> that heareth <08085> speaketh <01696> constantly <05331>. 29. A wicked <07563> man <0376> hardeneth <05810> his face <06440>: but [as for] the upright <03477>, he directeth <03559> his way <01870>. 30. [There is] no <0369> wisdom <02451> nor <0369> understanding <08394> nor <0369> counsel <06098> against <05048> the LORD <03068>. 31 The horse <05483> [is] prepared <03559> against the day <03117> of battle <04421>: but safety <08668> [is] of the LORD <03068>. Proverbs 22 1. A [good] name <08034> [is] rather to be chosen <0977> than great <07227> riches <06239>, [and] loving <02896> favour <02580> rather than silver <03701> and gold <02091>. 2. The rich <06223> and poor <07326> meet <06298> together: the LORD <03068> [is] the maker <06213> of them all <03605>. 3. A prudent <06175> [man] foreseeth <07200> the evil <07451>, and hideth <05641> himself: but the simple <06612> pass <05674> on, and are punished <06064>. 4. By humility <06038> [and] the fear <03374> of the LORD <03068> [are] riches <06239>, and honour <03519>, and life <02416>. 5. Thorns <06791> [and] snares <06341> [are] in the way <01870> of the froward <06141>: he that doth keep <08104> his soul <05315> shall be far <07368> from them. 6. Train <02596> up a child <05288> in the way <01870> he should go <06310>: and when <03588> he is old <02204>, he will not depart <05493> from it. 7. The rich <06223> ruleth <04910> over the poor <07326>, and the borrower <03867> [is] servant <05650> to the lender <03867>. 8. He that soweth <02232> iniquity <05766> shall reap <07114> vanity <0205>: and the rod <07626> of his anger <05678> shall fail <03615>. 9. He that hath a bountiful <02896> eye <05869> shall be blessed <01288>; for he giveth <05414> of his bread <03899> to the poor <01800>. 10. Cast <01644> out the scorner <03887>, and contention <04066> shall go <03318> out; yea, strife <01779> and reproach <07036> shall cease <07673>. 11. He that loveth <0157> pureness <02890> of heart <03820>, [for] the grace <02580> of his lips <08193> the king <04428> [shall be] his friend <07453>. 12. The eyes <05869> of the LORD <03068> preserve <05341> knowledge <01847>, and he overthroweth <05557> the words <01697> of the transgressor <0898>. 13. The slothful <06102> [man] saith <0559>, [There is] a lion <0738> without <02351>, I shall be slain <07523> in the streets <07339>. 14. The mouth <06310> of strange <02114> women [is] a deep <06013> pit <07745>: he that is abhorred <02194> of the LORD <03068> shall fall <05307> therein <08033>. 15. Foolishness <0200> [is] bound <07194> in the heart <03820> of a child <05288>; [but] the rod <07626> of correction <04148> shall drive it far <07368> from him. 16. He that oppresseth <06231> the poor <01800> to increase <07235> his [riches, and] he that giveth <05414> to the rich <06223>, [shall] surely <0389> [come] to want <04270>. 17. Bow <05186> down <05186> thine ear <0241>, and hear <08085> the words <01697> of the wise <02450>, and apply <07896> thine heart <03820> unto my knowledge <01847>. 18 For [it is] a pleasant <05273> thing if <03588> thou keep <08104> them within <0990> thee; they shall withal <03162> be fitted <03559> in thy lips <08193>. 19 That thy trust <04009> may be in the LORD <03068>, I have made known <03045> to thee this day <03117>, even <0637> to thee. 20 Have not I written <03789> to thee excellent <07991> things in counsels <04156> and knowledge <01847>, 21 That I might make thee know <03045> the certainty <07189> of the words <0561> of truth <0571>; that thou mightest answer <07725> the words <0561> of truth <0571> to them that send <07971> unto thee? 22. Rob <01497> not the poor <01800>, because <03588> he [is] poor <01800>: neither <03808> oppress <01792> the afflicted <06041> in the gate <08179>: 23 For the LORD <03068> will plead <07378> their cause <07379>, and spoil <06906> the soul <05315> of those that spoiled <06906> them. 24. Make no <0408> friendship <07462> with an angry <0639> man <01167>; and with a furious <02534> man <0376> thou shalt not go <0935>: 25 Lest <06435> thou learn <0502> his ways <0734>, and get <03947> a snare <04170> to thy soul <05315>. 26. Be not thou [one] of them that strike <08628> hands <03709>, [or] of them that are sureties <06148> for debts <04859>. 27 If <0518> thou hast nothing <0369> to pay <07999>, why <04100> should he take <03947> away thy bed <04904> from under <08478> thee? 28. Remove <05253> not the ancient <05769> landmark <01366>, which <0834> thy fathers <01> have set <06213>. 29. Seest <02372> thou a man <0376> diligent <04106> in his business <04399>? he shall stand <03320> before <06440> kings <04428>; he shall not stand <03320> before <06440> mean <02823> [men]. Proverbs 23 1. When <03588> thou sittest <03427> to eat <03898> with a ruler <04910>, consider <0995> diligently what [is] before <06440> thee: 2 And put <07760> a knife <07915> to thy throat <03930>, if <0518> thou [be] a man <01167> given <01167> to appetite <05315>. 3 Be not desirous <0183> of his dainties <04303>: for they [are] deceitful <03577> meat <03899>. 4. Labour <03021> not to be rich <06238>: cease <02308> from thine own wisdom <0998>. 5 Wilt thou set <05774> thine eyes <05869> upon that which is not? for [riches] certainly make <06213> themselves wings <03671>; they fly <05774> away as an eagle <05404> toward heaven <08064>. 6. Eat <03898> thou not the bread <03899> of [him that hath] an evil <07451> eye <05869>, neither <0408> desire <0183> thou his dainty <04303> meats: 7 For as he thinketh <08176> in his heart <05315>, so <03651> [is] he: Eat <0398> and drink <08354>, saith <0559> he to thee; but his heart <03820> [is] not with thee. 8 The morsel <06595> [which] thou hast eaten <0398> shalt thou vomit <06958> up, and lose <07843> thy sweet <05273> words <01697>. 9. Speak <01696> not in the ears <0241> of a fool <03684>: for he will despise <0936> the wisdom <07922> of thy words <04405>. 10. Remove <05253> not the old <05769> landmark <01366>; and enter <0935> not into the fields <07704> of the fatherless <03490>: 11 For their redeemer <01350> [is] mighty <02389>; he shall plead <07378> their cause <07379> with thee. 12. Apply <0935> thine heart <03820> unto instruction <04148>, and thine ears <0241> to the words <0561> of knowledge <01847>. 13 Withhold <04513> not correction <04148> from the child <05288>: for [if] thou beatest <05221> him with the rod <07626>, he shall not die <04191>. 14 Thou shalt beat <05221> him with the rod <07626>, and shalt deliver <05337> his soul <05315> from hell <07585>. 15 My son <01121>, if <0518> thine heart <03820> be wise <02449>, my heart <03820> shall rejoice <08055>, even <01571> mine <0589>. 16 Yea, my reins <03629> shall rejoice <05937>, when thy lips <08193> speak <01696> right <04339> things. 17. Let not thine heart <03820> envy <07065> sinners <02400>: but [be thou] in the fear <03374> of the LORD <03068> all <03605> the day <03117> long. 18 For surely there is an end <0319>; and thine expectation <08615> shall not be cut <03772> off. 19. Hear <08085> thou, my son <01121>, and be wise <02449>, and guide <0833> thine heart <03820> in the way <01870>. 20 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous <02151> eaters <02151> of flesh <01320>: 21 For the drunkard <05435> and the glutton <02151> shall come to poverty <03423>: and drowsiness <05124> shall clothe <03847> [a man] with rags <07168>. 22 Hearken <08085> unto thy father <01> that begat <03205> thee, and despise <0936> not thy mother <0517> when <03588> she is old <02204>. 23 Buy <07069> the truth <0571>, and sell <04376> [it] not; [also] wisdom <02451>, and instruction <04148>, and understanding <0998>. 24 The father <01> of the righteous <06662> shall greatly rejoice <01523>: and he that begetteth <03205> a wise <02450> [child] shall have joy <08056> of him. 25 Thy father <01> and thy mother <0517> shall be glad <08056>, and she that bare <03205> thee shall rejoice <01523>. 26 My son <01121>, give <05414> me thine heart <03820>, and let thine eyes <05869> observe <05341> my ways <01870>. 27 For a whore <02181> [is] a deep <06013> ditch <07745>; and a strange <05237> woman [is] a narrow <06862> pit <0875>. 28 She also <0637> lieth in wait <0693> as [for] a prey <02863>, and increaseth <03254> the transgressors <0898> among men <0120>. 29. Who <04310> hath woe <0188>? who <04310> hath sorrow <017>? who <04310> hath contentions <04079>? who <04310> hath babbling <07879>? who <04310> hath wounds <06482> without <02600> cause <02600>? who <04310> hath redness <02498> of eyes <05869>? 30 They that tarry <0309> long at <05921> the wine <03196>; they that go <0935> to seek <02713> mixed <04469> wine <04469>. 31 Look <07200> not thou upon the wine <03196> when <03588> it is red <0119>, when <03588> it giveth <05414> his colour <05869> in the cup <03599>, [when] it moveth <01980> itself aright <04339>. 32 At the last <0319> it biteth <05391> like a serpent <05175>, and stingeth <06567> like an adder <06848>. 33 Thine eyes <05869> shall behold <07200> strange <02114> women, and thine heart <03820> shall utter <01696> perverse <08419> things. 34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth <07901> down <07901> in the midst <03820> of the sea <03220>, or as he that lieth <07901> upon the top <07218> of a mast <02260>. 35 They have stricken <05221> me, [shalt thou say <0559>, and] I was not sick <02470>; they have beaten <01986> me, [and] I felt <03045> [it] not: when <04970> shall I awake <06974>? I will seek <01245> it yet again <05750>. Proverbs 24 1. Be not thou envious <07065> against evil <07451> men <0582>, neither <0408> desire <0183> to be with them. 2 For their heart <03820> studieth <01897> destruction <07701>, and their lips <08193> talk <01696> of mischief <05999>. 3. Through wisdom <02451> is an house <01004> builded <01129>; and by understanding <08394> it is established <03559>: 4 And by knowledge <01847> shall the chambers <02315> be filled <04390> with all <03605> precious <03368> and pleasant <05273> riches <01952>. 5 A wise <02450> man <01397> [is] strong <05797>; yea, a man <0376> of knowledge <01847> increaseth <0553> strength <03581>. 6 For by wise counsel <08458> thou shalt make thy war <04421>: and in multitude <07230> of counsellors <03289> [there is] safety <08668>. 7. Wisdom <02454> [is] too high <07311> for a fool <0191>: he openeth <06605> not his mouth <06310> in the gate <08179>. 8 He that deviseth <02803> to do evil <07489> shall be called <07121> a mischievous <04209> person <01167>. 9 The thought <02154> of foolishness <0200> [is] sin <02403>: and the scorner <03887> [is] an abomination <08441> to men <0120>. 10. [If] thou faint <07503> in the day <03117> of adversity <06869>, thy strength <03581> [is] small <06862>. 11. If thou forbear <02820> to deliver <05337> [them that are] drawn <03947> unto death <04194>, and [those that are] ready <04131> to be slain <02027>; 12 If <03588> thou sayest <0559>, Behold <02005>, we knew <03045> it not; doth not he that pondereth <08505> the heart <03820> consider <0995> [it]? and he that keepeth <05341> thy soul <05315>, doth [not] he know <03045> [it]? and shall [not] he render <07725> to [every] man <0120> according to his works <06467>? 13. My son <01121>, eat <0398> thou honey <01706>, because <03588> [it is] good <02896>; and the honeycomb <05317>, [which is] sweet <04966> to thy taste <02441>: 14 So <03651> [shall] the knowledge <03045> of wisdom <02451> [be] unto thy soul <05315>: when <0518> thou hast found <04672> [it], then there shall be a reward <0319>, and thy expectation <08615> shall not be cut <03772> off. 15. Lay not wait <0693>, O wicked <07563> [man <0376>], against the dwelling <05116> of the righteous <06662>; spoil <07703> not his resting <07258> place: 16 For a just <06662> [man] falleth <05307> seven <07651> times, and riseth <06965> up again: but the wicked <07563> shall fall <03782> into mischief <07451>. 17. Rejoice <08055> not when thine enemy <0341> falleth <05307>, and let not thine heart <03820> be glad <01523> when he stumbleth <03782>: 18 Lest <06435> the LORD <03068> see <07200> [it], and it displease him, and he turn <07725> away his wrath <0639> from him. 19. Fret <02734> not thyself because of evil <07489> [men], neither <0408> be thou envious <07065> at the wicked <07563>; 20 For there shall be no <03808> reward <0319> to the evil <07451> [man]; the candle <05216> of the wicked <07563> shall be put <01846> out. 21. My son <01121>, fear <03372> thou the LORD <03068> and the king <04428>: [and] meddle <06148> not with them that are given to change <08138>: 22 For their calamity <0343> shall rise <06965> suddenly <06597>; and who <04310> knoweth <03045> the ruin <06365> of them both <08147>? 23. These <0428> [things] also <01571> [belong] to the wise <02450>. [It is] not good <02896> to have respect <05234> of persons <06440> in judgment <04941>. 24 He that saith <0559> unto the wicked <07563>, Thou [art] righteous <06662>; him shall the people <05971> curse <05344>, nations <03816> shall abhor <02194> him: 25 But to them that rebuke <03198> [him] shall be delight <05276>, and a good <02896> blessing <01293> shall come <0935> upon them. 26 [Every man] shall kiss <05401> [his] lips <08193> that giveth a right <05228> answer <01697>. 27. Prepare <03559> thy work <04399> without <02351>, and make it fit <06257> for thyself in the field <07704>; and afterwards <0310> build <01129> thine house <01004>. 28. Be not a witness <05707> against thy neighbour <07453> without <02600> cause <02600>; and deceive <06601> [not] with thy lips <08193>. 29 Say <0559> not, I will do <06213> so <03651> to him as he hath done <06213> to me: I will render <07725> to the man <0376> according to his work <06467>. 30. I went <05674> by the field <07704> of the slothful <06102>, and by the vineyard <03754> of the man <0120> void <02638> of understanding <03820>; 31 And, lo <02009>, it was all <03605> grown <05927> over <05927> with thorns <07063>, [and] nettles <02738> had covered <03680> the face <06440> thereof, and the stone <068> wall <01444> thereof was broken <02040> down <02040>. 32 Then I saw <02372>, [and] considered [it] well <03190>: I looked <07200> upon [it, and] received <03947> instruction <04148>. 33 [Yet] a little <04592> sleep <08142>, a little <04592> slumber <08572>, a little <04592> folding <02264> of the hands <03027> to sleep <07901>: 34 So shall thy poverty <07389> come <0935> [as] one that travelleth <01980>; and thy want <04270> as an armed <04043> man <0376>. Proverbs 25 1. These <0428> [are] also <01571> proverbs <04912> of Solomon <08010>, which <0834> the men <0582> of Hezekiah <02396> king <04428> of Judah <03063> copied <06275> out. 2. [It is] the glory <03519> of God <0430> to conceal <05641> a thing <01697>: but the honour <03519> of kings <04428> [is] to search <02713> out a matter <01697>. 3 The heaven <08064> for height <07312>, and the earth <0776> for depth <06012>, and the heart <03820> of kings <04428> [is] unsearchable. 4. Take <01898> away <01898> the dross <05509> from the silver <03701>, and there shall come <03318> forth <03318> a vessel <03627> for the finer <06884>. 5 Take <01898> away <01898> the wicked <07563> [from] before <06440> the king <04428>, and his throne <03678> shall be established <03559> in righteousness <06664>. 6. Put <01921> not forth <01921> thyself in the presence <06440> of the king <04428>, and stand <05975> not in the place <04725> of great <01419> [men]: 7 For better <02896> [it is] that it be said <0559> unto thee, Come <05927> up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower <08213> in the presence <06440> of the prince <05081> whom <0834> thine eyes <05869> have seen <07200>. 8. Go <03318> not forth <03318> hastily <04118> to strive <07378>, lest <06435> [thou know not] what <04100> to do <06213> in the end <0319> thereof, when thy neighbour <07453> hath put thee to shame <03637>. 9 Debate <07378> thy cause <07379> with thy neighbour <07453> [himself]; and discover <01540> not a secret <05475> to another <0312>: 10 Lest <06435> he that heareth <08085> [it] put thee to shame <02616>, and thine infamy <01681> turn <07725> not away. 11. A word <01697> fitly spoken <01696> [is like] apples <08598> of gold <02091> in pictures <04906> of silver <03701>. 12 [As] an earring <05141> of gold <02091>, and an ornament <02481> of fine gold <03800>, [so is] a wise <02450> reprover <03198> upon an obedient <08085> ear <0241>. 13. As the cold <06793> of snow <07950> in the time <03117> of harvest <07105>, [so is] a faithful <0539> messenger <06735> to them that send <07971> him: for he refresheth <07725> the soul <05315> of his masters <0113>. 14. Whoso boasteth <01984> himself of a false <08267> gift <04991> [is like] clouds <05387> and wind <07307> without <0369> rain <01653>. 15. By long <0753> forbearing <0639> is a prince <07101> persuaded <06601>, and a soft <07390> tongue <03956> breaketh <07665> the bone <01634>. 16. Hast thou found <04672> honey <01706>? eat <0398> so much <01767> as is sufficient <01767> for thee, lest <06435> thou be filled <07646> therewith, and vomit <06958> it. 17. Withdraw <03365> thy foot <07272> from thy neighbour's <07453> house <01004>; lest <06435> he be weary <07646> of thee, and [so] hate <08130> thee. 18. A man <0376> that beareth <06030> false <08267> witness <05707> against his neighbour <07453> [is] a maul <04650>, and a sword <02719>, and a sharp <08150> arrow <02671>. 19. Confidence <04009> in an unfaithful <0898> man in time <03117> of trouble <06869> [is like] a broken <07465> tooth <08127>, and a foot <07272> out of joint <04154>. 20. [As] he that taketh <05710> away <05710> a garment <0899> in cold <07135> weather <03117>, [and as] vinegar <02558> upon nitre <05427>, so [is] he that singeth <07891> songs <07892> to an heavy <07451> heart <03820>. 21. If <0518> thine enemy <08130> be hungry <07456>, give him bread <03899> to eat <0398>; and if <0518> he be thirsty <06771>, give him water <04325> to drink <08248>: 22 For thou shalt heap <02846> coals <01513> of fire upon his head <07218>, and the LORD <03068> shall reward <07999> thee. 23. The north <06828> wind <07307> driveth <02342> away rain <01653>: so [doth] an angry <02194> countenance <06440> a backbiting <05643> tongue <03956>. 24. [It is] better <02896> to dwell <03427> in the corner <06438> of the housetop <01406>, than with a brawling <04090> woman <0802> and in a wide <02267> house <01004>. 25. [As] cold <07119> waters <04325> to a thirsty soul <05315>, so [is] good <02896> news <08052> from a far <04801> country <0776>. 26. A righteous <06662> man falling <04131> down before <06440> the wicked <07563> [is as] a troubled <07515> fountain <04599>, and a corrupt <07843> spring <04726>. 27. [It is] not good <02896> to eat <0398> much <07235> honey <01706>: so [for men] to search <02714> their own glory <03519> [is not] glory <03519>. 28. He that [hath] no <0369> rule <04623> over his own spirit <07307> [is like] a city <05892> [that is] broken <06555> down, [and] without <0369> walls <02346>. Proverbs 26 1. As snow <07950> in summer <07019>, and as rain <04306> in harvest <07105>, so <03651> honour <03519> is not seemly <05000> for a fool <03684>. 2. As the bird <06833> by wandering <05110>, as the swallow <01866> by flying <05774>, so <03651> the curse <07045> causeless <02600> shall not come <0935>. 3. A whip <07752> for the horse <05483>, a bridle <04964> for the ass <02543>, and a rod <07626> for the fool's <03684> back <01458>. 4. Answer <06030> not a fool <03684> according to his folly <0200>, lest <06435> thou also <01571> be like <07737> unto him. 5 Answer <06030> a fool <03684> according to his folly <0200>, lest <06435> he be wise <02450> in his own conceit <05869>. 6. He that sendeth <07971> a message <01697> by the hand <03027> of a fool <03684> cutteth <07096> off the feet <07272>, [and] drinketh <08354> damage <02555>. 7 The legs <07785> of the lame <06455> are not equal <01809>: so [is] a parable <04912> in the mouth <06310> of fools <03684>. 8 As he that bindeth <06887> a stone <068> in a sling <04773>, so <03651> [is] he that giveth <05414> honour <03519> to a fool <03684>. 9 [As] a thorn <02336> goeth <05927> up into the hand <03027> of a drunkard <07910>, so [is] a parable <04912> in the mouth <06310> of fools <03684>. 10. The great <07227> [God] that formed <02342> all <03605> [things] both rewardeth <07936> the fool <03684>, and rewardeth <07936> transgressors <05674>. 11. As a dog <03611> returneth <07725> to his vomit <06892>, [so] a fool <03684> returneth <08138> to his folly <0200>. 12. Seest <07200> thou a man <0376> wise <02450> in his own conceit <05869>? [there is] more hope <08615> of a fool <03684> than of him. 13. The slothful <06102> [man] saith <0559>, [There is] a lion <0738> in the way <01870>; a lion <0738> [is] in the streets <07339>. 14. [As] the door <01817> turneth <05437> upon his hinges <06735>, so [doth] the slothful <06102> upon his bed <04296>. 15. The slothful <06102> hideth <02934> his hand <03027> in [his] bosom <06747>; it grieveth <03811> him to bring <07725> it again <07725> to his mouth <06310>. 16. The sluggard <06102> [is] wiser <02450> in his own conceit <05869> than seven <07651> men that can render <07725> a reason <02940>. 17. He that passeth <05674> by, [and] meddleth <05674> with strife <07379> [belonging] not to him, [is like] one that taketh <02388> a dog <03611> by the ears <0241>. 18. As a mad <03856> [man] who casteth <03384> firebrands <02131>, arrows <02671>, and death <04194>, 19 So <03651> [is] the man <0376> [that] deceiveth <07411> his neighbour <07453>, and saith <0559>, Am not I in sport <07832>? 20. Where <0657> no <0657> wood <06086> is, [there] the fire <0784> goeth <03518> out: so where [there is] no <0369> talebearer <05372>, the strife <04066> ceaseth <08367>. 21 [As] coals <06352> [are] to burning <01513> coals <01513>, and wood <06086> to fire <0784>; so [is] a contentious <04066> man <0376> to kindle <02787> strife <07379>. 22 The words <01697> of a talebearer <05372> [are] as wounds <03859>, and they go <03381> down <03381> into the innermost <02315> parts of the belly <0990>. 23. Burning <01814> lips <08193> and a wicked <07451> heart <03820> [are like] a potsherd <02789> covered <06823> with silver <03701> dross <05509>. 24. He that hateth <08130> dissembleth <05234> with his lips <08193>, and layeth <07896> up deceit <04820> within <07130> him; 25 When <03588> he speaketh <06963> fair <02603>, believe <0539> him not: for [there are] seven <07651> abominations <08441> in his heart <03820>. 26 [Whose] hatred <08135> is covered <03680> by deceit <04860>, his wickedness <07451> shall be shewed <01540> before the [whole] congregation <06951>. 27. Whoso diggeth <03738> a pit <07845> shall fall <05307> therein: and he that rolleth <01556> a stone <068>, it will return <07725> upon him. 28. A lying <08267> tongue <03956> hateth <08130> [those that are] afflicted <01790> by it; and a flattering <02509> mouth <06310> worketh <06213> ruin <04072>. Proverbs 27 1. Boast <01984> not thyself of to morrow <04279>; for thou knowest <03045> not what <04100> a day <03117> may bring <03205> forth <03205>. 2. Let another <02114> man praise <01984> thee, and not thine own mouth <06310>; a stranger <05237>, and not thine own lips <08193>. 3. A stone <068> [is] heavy <03514>, and the sand <02344> weighty <05192>; but a fool's <0191> wrath <03708> [is] heavier <03513> than them both <08147>. 4 Wrath <02534> [is] cruel <0395>, and anger <0639> [is] outrageous <07858>; but who <04310> [is] able to stand <05975> before <06440> envy <07068>? 5. Open <01540> rebuke <08433> [is] better <02896> than secret <05641> love <0160>. 6 Faithful <0539> [are] the wounds <06482> of a friend <0157>; but the kisses <05390> of an enemy <08130> [are] deceitful <06280>. 7. The full <07646> soul <05315> loatheth <0947> an honeycomb <05317>; but to the hungry <07456> soul <05315> every <03605> bitter <04751> thing is sweet <04966>. 8. As a bird <06833> that wandereth <05074> from her nest <07064>, so <03651> [is] a man <0376> that wandereth <05074> from his place <04725>. 9. Ointment <08081> and perfume <07004> rejoice <08055> the heart <03820>: so [doth] the sweetness <04986> of a man's friend <07453> by hearty <05315> counsel <06098>. 10 Thine own friend <07453>, and thy father's <01> friend <07453>, forsake <05800> not; neither <0408> go <0935> into thy brother's <0251> house <01004> in the day <03117> of thy calamity <0343>: [for] better <02896> [is] a neighbour <07934> [that is] near <07138> than a brother <0251> far <07350> off. 11. My son <01121>, be wise <02449>, and make my heart <03820> glad <08056>, that I may answer <01697> him that reproacheth <02778> me. 12. A prudent <06175> [man] foreseeth <07200> the evil <07451>, [and] hideth <05641> himself; [but] the simple <06612> pass <05674> on, [and] are punished <06064>. 13. Take <03947> his garment <0899> that is surety <06148> for a stranger <02114>, and take <02254> a pledge <02254> of him for a strange <05237> woman. 14. He that blesseth <01288> his friend <07453> with a loud <01419> voice <06963>, rising <07925> early <07925> in the morning <01242>, it shall be counted <02803> a curse <07045> to him. 15. A continual <02956> dropping <01812> in a very <05464> rainy <05464> day <03117> and a contentious <04066> woman <0802> are alike <07737>. 16 Whosoever hideth <06845> her hideth <06845> the wind <07307>, and the ointment <08081> of his right <03225> hand <03225>, [which] bewrayeth <07121> [itself]. 17. Iron <01270> sharpeneth <02300> iron <01270>; so a man <0376> sharpeneth <02300> the countenance <06440> of his friend <07453>. 18. Whoso keepeth <05341> the fig <08384> tree shall eat <0398> the fruit <06529> thereof: so he that waiteth <08104> on his master <0113> shall be honoured <03513>. 19. As in water <04325> face <06440> [answereth] to face <06440>, so <03651> the heart <03820> of man <0120> to man <0120>. 20. Hell <07585> and destruction <010> are never <03808> full <07646>; so the eyes <05869> of man <0120> are never <03808> satisfied <07646>. 21. [As] the fining <04715> pot <04715> for silver <03701>, and the furnace <03564> for gold <02091>; so [is] a man <0376> to his praise <04110>. 22. Though <0518> thou shouldest bray <03806> a fool <0191> in a mortar <04388> among <08432> wheat <07383> with a pestle <05940>, [yet] will not his foolishness <0200> depart <05493> from him. 23. Be thou diligent to know <03045> the state <06440> of thy flocks <06629>, [and] look <07896> well to thy herds <05739>. 24 For riches <02633> [are] not for ever <05769>: and doth the crown <05145> [endure] to every generation <01755>? 25 The hay <02682> appeareth <01540>, and the tender grass <01877> sheweth <07200> itself, and herbs <06212> of the mountains <02022> are gathered <0622>. 26 The lambs <03532> [are] for thy clothing <03830>, and the goats <06260> [are] the price <04242> of the field <07704>. 27 And [thou shalt have] goats <05795>' milk <02461> enough <01767> for thy food <03899>, for the food <03899> of thy household <01004>, and [for] the maintenance <02416> for thy maidens <05291>. Proverbs 28 1. The wicked <07563> flee <05127> when no <0369> man pursueth <07291>: but the righteous <06662> are bold <0982> as a lion <03715>. 2. For the transgression <06588> of a land <0776> many <07227> [are] the princes <08269> thereof: but by a man <0120> of understanding <0995> [and] knowledge <03045> the state <03651> [thereof] shall be prolonged <0748>. 3. A poor <07326> man <01397> that oppresseth <06231> the poor <01800> [is like] a sweeping <05502> rain <04306> which leaveth no <0369> food <03899>. 4. They that forsake <05800> the law <08451> praise <01984> the wicked <07563>: but such as keep <08104> the law <08451> contend <01624> with them. 5. Evil <07451> men <0582> understand <0995> not judgment <04941>: but they that seek <01245> the LORD <03068> understand <0995> all <03605> [things]. 6. Better <02896> [is] the poor <01800> that walketh <01980> in his uprightness <08537>, than [he that is] perverse <06141> [in his] ways <01870>, though he [be] rich <06223>. 7. Whoso keepeth <05341> the law <08451> [is] a wise <0995> son <01121>: but he that is a companion <07462> of riotous <02151> [men] shameth <03637> his father <01>. 8. He that by usury <05392> and unjust <08636> gain <08636> increaseth <07235> his substance <01952>, he shall gather <06908> it for him that will pity <02603> the poor <01800>. 9. He that turneth <05493> away his ear <0241> from hearing <08085> the law <08451>, even <01571> his prayer <08605> [shall be] abomination <08441>. 10. Whoso causeth the righteous <03477> to go <07686> astray <07686> in an evil <07451> way <01870>, he shall fall <05307> himself <01931> into his own pit <07816>: but the upright <08549> shall have good <02896> [things] in possession <05157>. 11. The rich <06223> man <0376> [is] wise <02450> in his own conceit <05869>; but the poor <01800> that hath understanding <0995> searcheth <02713> him out. 12. When righteous <06662> [men] do rejoice <05970>, [there is] great <07227> glory <08597>: but when the wicked <07563> rise <06965>, a man <0120> is hidden <02664>. 13. He that covereth <03680> his sins <06588> shall not prosper <06743>: but whoso confesseth <03034> and forsaketh <05800> [them] shall have mercy <07355>. 14. Happy <0835> [is] the man <0120> that feareth <06342> alway <08548>: but he that hardeneth <07185> his heart <03820> shall fall <05307> into mischief <07451>. 15. [As] a roaring <05098> lion <0739>, and a ranging <08264> bear <01677>; [so is] a wicked <07563> ruler <04910> over <05921> the poor <01800> people <05971>. 16. The prince <05057> that wanteth <02638> understanding <08394> [is] also a great <07227> oppressor <04642>: [but] he that hateth <08130> covetousness <01215> shall prolong <0748> [his] days <03117>. 17. A man <0120> that doeth violence <06231> to the blood <01818> of [any] person <05315> shall flee <05127> to the pit <0953>; let no <0408> man <0376> stay <08551> him. 18. Whoso walketh <01980> uprightly <08549> shall be saved <03467>: but [he that is] perverse <06140> [in his] ways <01870> shall fall <05307> at once <0259>. 19. He that tilleth <05647> his land <0127> shall have plenty <07646> of bread <03899>: but he that followeth <07291> after vain <07386> [persons] shall have poverty <07389> enough <07644>. 20. A faithful <0530> man <0376> shall abound with blessings <01293>: but he that maketh haste <0213> to be rich <06238> shall not be innocent <05352>. 21. To have respect <05234> of persons <06440> [is] not good <02896>: for for a piece <06595> of bread <03899> [that] man <01397> will transgress <06586>. 22. He that hasteth <0926> to be rich <01952> [hath] an evil <07451> eye <05869>, and considereth <03045> not that poverty <02639> shall come <0935> upon him. 23. He that rebuketh <03198> a man <0120> afterwards <0310> shall find <04672> more favour <02580> than he that flattereth <02505> with the tongue <03956>. 24. Whoso robbeth <01497> his father <01> or his mother <0517>, and saith <0559>, [It is] no <0369> transgression <06588>; the same <01931> [is] the companion <02270> of a destroyer <07843>. 25. He that is of a proud <07342> heart <05315> stirreth <01624> up strife <04066>: but he that putteth his trust <0982> in the LORD <03068> shall be made fat <01878>. 26. He that trusteth <0982> in his own heart <03820> is a fool <03684>: but whoso walketh <01980> wisely <02451>, he shall be delivered <04422>. 27. He that giveth <05414> unto the poor <07326> shall not lack <04270>: but he that hideth <05956> his eyes <05869> shall have many <07227> a curse <03994>. 28. When the wicked <07563> rise <06965>, men <0120> hide <05641> themselves: but when they perish <06>, the righteous <06662> increase <07235>. Proverbs 29 1. He, that being often reproved <08433> hardeneth <07185> [his] neck <06203>, shall suddenly <06621> be destroyed <07665>, and that without <0369> remedy <04832>. 2. When the righteous <06662> are in authority <07235>, the people <05971> rejoice <08055>: but when the wicked <07563> beareth <04910> rule <04910>, the people <05971> mourn <0584>. 3. Whoso loveth <0157> wisdom <02451> rejoiceth <08055> his father <01>: but he that keepeth company <07462> with harlots <02181> spendeth <06> [his] substance <01952>. 4. The king <04428> by judgment <04941> establisheth <05975> the land <0776>: but he that receiveth gifts <08641> overthroweth <02040> it. 5. A man <01397> that flattereth <02505> his neighbour <07453> spreadeth <06566> a net <07568> for his feet <06471>. 6. In the transgression <06588> of an evil <07451> man <0376> [there is] a snare <04170>: but the righteous <06662> doth sing <07442> and rejoice <08055>. 7. The righteous <06662> considereth <03045> the cause <01779> of the poor <01800>: [but] the wicked <07563> regardeth <0995> not to know <01847> [it]. 8. Scornful <03944> men <0582> bring <06315> a city <07151> into a snare <06315>: but wise <02450> [men] turn <07725> away wrath <0639>. 9. [If] a wise <02450> man <0376> contendeth <08199> with a foolish <0191> man <0376>, whether <0518> he rage <07264> or laugh <07832>, [there is] no <0369> rest <05183>. 10. The bloodthirsty hate <08130> the upright <08535>: but the just <03477> seek <01245> his soul <05315>. 11. A fool <03684> uttereth <03318> all <03605> his mind <07307>: but a wise <02450> [man] keepeth <07623> it in till afterwards <0268>. 12. If a ruler <04910> hearken <07181> to lies, all <03605> his servants <08334> [are] wicked <07563>. 13. The poor <07326> and the deceitful <08501> man <0376> meet <06298> together: the LORD <03068> lighteneth <0215> both <08147> their eyes <05869>. 14. The king <04428> that faithfully <0571> judgeth <08199> the poor <01800>, his throne <03678> shall be established <03559> for ever <05703>. 15. The rod <07626> and reproof <08433> give <05414> wisdom <02451>: but a child <05288> left <07971> [to himself] bringeth his mother <0517> to shame <0954>. 16. When the wicked <07563> are multiplied <07235>, transgression <06588> increaseth <07235>: but the righteous <06662> shall see <07200> their fall <04658>. 17. Correct <03256> thy son <01121>, and he shall give thee rest <05117>; yea, he shall give <05414> delight <04574> unto thy soul <05315>. 18. Where [there is] no <0369> vision <02377>, the people <05971> perish <06544>: but he that keepeth <08104> the law <08451>, happy <0835> [is] he. 19. A servant <05650> will not be corrected <03256> by words <01697>: for though he understand <0995> he will not answer <04617>. 20. Seest <02372> thou a man <0376> [that is] hasty <0213> in his words <01697>? [there is] more hope <08615> of a fool <03684> than of him. 21. He that delicately <06445> bringeth <06445> up his servant <05650> from a child <05290> shall have him become <01961> [his] son <04497> at the length <0319>. 22. An angry <0639> man <0376> stirreth <01624> up strife <04066>, and a furious <02534> man <01167> aboundeth in transgression <06588>. 23. A man's <0120> pride <01346> shall bring <08213> him low <08213>: but honour <03519> shall uphold <08551> the humble <08217> in spirit <07307>. 24. Whoso is partner <02505> with a thief <01590> hateth <08130> his own soul <05315>: he heareth <08085> cursing <0423>, and bewrayeth <05046> [it] not. 25. The fear <02731> of man <0120> bringeth <05414> a snare <04170>: but whoso putteth his trust <0982> in the LORD <03068> shall be safe <07682>. 26. Many <07227> seek <01245> the ruler's <04910> favour <06440>; but [every] man's <0376> judgment <04941> [cometh] from the LORD <03068>. 27. An unjust <05766> man <0376> [is] an abomination <08441> to the just <06662>: and [he that is] upright <03477> in the way <01870> [is] abomination <08441> to the wicked <07563>. Proverbs 30 1.
